Best KPortal Reviews
A wonderful pub, friendly service overlooking a stunning beach. The food looked amazing but we only popped in on the way past. We will hopefully get to try the lamb shank before we leave. It looked amazing ????
Really enjoyed our visit, hospitality was superb, unfortunately we were not able to stay long. We just had a light meal but the food being served to others looked amazing. The link with Whiskey Galore the movie is legendary, even have a bottle of the original whiskey from SS Politician.
The best fish and chips i have had for a long time! So much so I went back again to have it again!
Great conversation ref the whisky. Whiskey Galore.
Lovely glimpse of beach from beer garden.
Park here and then go a bit further along the same road to get to the beach where Bonnie Prince Charlie is said to have landed. In 1745.
The Politician Pub is a renowned establishment on the island of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It gained notoriety in 1941 when a ship named the SS Politician ran aground nearby, carrying a cargo of whisky. This incident inspired the book and movie "Whisky Galore!" The pub commemorates this event and is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
I was told by a local that if you go in the pub for lunch, or a pint, ask to ‘see the top shelf’ and they’ll bring out some hidden treasures and artefact’s from old ships hidden whisky, to the machete and guns from that whole era… Ssshhh.. that is a secret so don’t go telling all, ok!
Wonderful experience. One of my best meals....ever.
If your in the Outer Hebrides it's a must stopover.
Superb local food, Superb local staff. Superb value.
Nuff said.
Had the most amazing tasting scallops here - the chef knows how to cook them perfectly too.
A fab place to eat, staff were so friendly and helpful, small menu but good choices. The conservatory overlooks the coast and you get the most wonderful view of the setting sun.
Nice bar area too if you just fancy a beer and good sized car park.
????Probably the best flavour of food in the entire outer Hebrides. We loved every single item we ordered. Ordered 2 starters and 2 main course. The burger in itself was quite filling!
???????? Reservations can be made. If you're coming here before 5-6pm, you'll get a seat, but if you're visiting after that time, it's best to make a reservation the previous day.
????️The road down to "the Polly" is a significant slope so gotta be careful if you're riding your bike down.
Absolutely fantastic, service was brilliant and food was amazing. Could not fault it. Definitely have to book and well in advance as it's a very popular place. We had the best weather so sat in conservatory and watched the sunset. 5 star experience from the moment I rang to book our table to the moment we left after a fabulous night. We will be back next year.
