Their bread and Croissants are wonderful. They are open from 6am and this is a great time to visit. I have not tried their coffee nor bacon so cannot comment. I feel the frustration of people in the queue waiting for a simple loaf or other ready-to-go products while the staff are dealing with the coffee drinkers! I am one of those in the queue. But they need to supplement their income and therefore I put up with that. Their ready-to-go bread etc. products make the wait worth while. Thank you for being part of our local support system during the Covid-19 mess. Grateful Andy
Very nice bread and cakes but never enough staff. This Saturday a queue of customers out the door but only two staff, one inexperienced. People walking out who couldn`t wait. If they are going to serve drinks and breakfasts etc which take more time to serve they need staff to do it. Rapid turnover in staff as well. Great pity to see a business supplying food that people want but nobody to serve them.
Requested food and sat and waited for around 15-20 minutes, multiple customers walked in long after I did, all got served, I still hadn’t. The Bacon is also like dry leather.
*** EDIT ***
Under new ownership now trading as “Zara’s Patisserie”
Service is now much better, there is a lot more on offer and the food is to a much better quality, the owner is a friendly guy who’s happy to chat to customers which is always a good sign and I’ve seen the staff working in and around the patisserie to make it a more pleasant place!
I used to come in a lot when working in area , Today I unfortunately went in and service was slow the lady did not speak good English . Price was way over the top. I ordered a cheese roll and if honest I’ve had more cheese on a cocktail stick at a party. Over priced slow service food terrible value will not be using again and The shop under new management Supposidly!!!!!!!. I think it will be another unit up to rent very soon if standards don’t go up. I’m not a Chelsea footballer so Christ knows how they can charge prices they do
Coffee is ok, bacon is a bit leathery.. but the thing that to me seems quaint is that they DON'T accept cards... "I said, sorry have I just stepped back in time to 1940, you don't accept cards?" then I wandered off to find an ATM machine! The owner is rather old fashioned according to the lady who served me. How can any business not be accepting cards in this day & age!! Complete Muppetry!! :-)
Update: 12/05/2020
The owner has replied to say refurbishment and new card facilities on the way! That's great news because more ways to pay should mean more sales for the owner hopefully and less hassle for you if you find yourself with no ready cash, as I did that day!. Thanks & #StaySafe
PS. I hope you've addressed the leathery bacon situation, as I note that some other reviewers have made similar comments!
Nice bakery in Stoke D'Abernon. Slightly old school as the business only accepts cash rather than cards but with Bank transaction fees, I appreciate the reasoning. Also, early closing on Saturday, so get in quick!
Happened by this lunchtime today and bought a White Sandwich loaf. Delicious. Plus the lady behind the counter behind the mask was quite lovely too ! RECOMMENDED for quality and service. Paul
Strange service, very slow and staff is kind of disengaged. Coffee was quite nice but that is about it. The interior is very old fashioned and not nice at all and the Florentine I had did not taste like a Florentine and was not nice at all. I
