Popped in for lunch and cake. Exceptionally good! Great food, lovely staff and lovely surroundings.
After a lovely walk along the canal, this made a fantastic stop for late lunch. Despite the time the place was still busy but we were seated and served quickly. Great food, generous portions and lovely staff. Food freshly prepared and homemade. We didn't ever feel rushed and enjoyed a relaxing stop before continuing our walk. I'll definitely be back.
All round nice venue, pleasant staff. The food was lovely, generous protions. Reasonable price.
Amazing chips, wonderful tasty thick soup and lush hot baguette with real butter. My husband had a huge doorstop type sausage sandwich which he said was delicious. All in all the experience and the service was delightful.
Love coming here, whether is for a coffee and a cake or a meal the food and service are always great. Staff are really lovely and the cakes are amazing! Would highly recommend if you want a nice cafe with Greta food and staff.
Free parking also for a select number of hours.
Location is nice, but that's the only positive thing. The staff refused to serve us a panini as they were part of the lunch menu and we visited before midday, which was fair enough, but they then served another customer from the lunch menu, despite it still being only 11:45. Also the bread on the sandwiches was extremely thick & fell apart, and the coffee was very bitter.
Beautiful fish and skin on fries, the peas......beautifully flavoured with onion and mint.
I left my 5th star off.....Unfortunately we fancied desert.....I have seen bought frozen desserts in the trade, if you can make homemade everything else...........there are many people who would supply you with classic bespoke puddings....I can recommend if you need help.
Will be back very soon x
I went here today for a family meal for mother's day and I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant. The 2 hot dinners that was ordered boiled down to what looked like a plate of scraps. 2 of us ordered fish and chips and when they arrived the food did not look appealing, the chips were black and the fish itself tasted like rubber. A waiter was asked over to take the 2 fish and chips away. Instead, he shrugged his shoulders and walked off without giving any response. He returned a few minutes later saying the chef's response was "the fish is fresh so it can't be funny"
This is also the first time I have ever returned a fish. The manager then decided to start an argument in front of the other customers about payment for this disgrace of a meal.
We agreed to pay for the 2 hot dinners but refused to pay for the fish and chips.
He then also raised a point in front of the customers stating "I don't want you leaving bad reviews online"
The total bill came at an extortionate price of £52 for 2 hot dinners consisting of a few carrots, 1 broccoli stalk, frozen peas, a spoonful of mash, 1 roast potato, 1 Yorkshire pudding and a piece of beef per dinner and the "fresh" fish they claimed had been delivered from Grimsby.
I will personally avoid this place so I don't have to put up with their arrogant staff or the vile food they serve.
