What a great spot! We had a large group that The Local easily and graciously accommodated to celebrate a late St Patties Day, and The Local did not disappoint. Everyone was happy after a round of Irish Car Bombs and Guinness to follow. I got the Cod fish and chips, which was excellent and filling. Others got the Bangers and Mash, the burger, and some other various appetizers, all looking fantastic. Highly recommend!
Had dinner here, the food good, not great. Had a walleye sandwich, it was fine. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here based on the food alone.
The atmosphere is nice, a lot of woodwork to give the look and feel of an Irish pub. A good sized drink menu with options.
If it's a night out and you're looking for drinks and a cool atmosphere, definitely check this place out. If you're just looking for food there would be other options near by that would offer better flavor/options.
After my first experience here with the pot roast I would have given it 5-stars. On my second visit I tried the salmon, and realized the quality of their menu items fluctuate a great deal. If you like Irish cuisine, it's worth checking out when in the area.
Absolutely loved the atmosphere. We were looking for somewhere with affordable fair, atmosphere, and a good vibe. The service was spot on and they were willing to create the Ruben flat bread that was not a menu item. We all really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it and plan to visit again.
So this review is over a 3 day visit time span. My friend and I were visiting Minneapolis and we stayed downtown. We decided to go here our first night and fell in love. The inside of the local feels like an old pub in Ireland. We kept coming back because the food was delicious, they had non-alcoholic Guinness, and the service was excellent. We only ate there twice but went back for a non-alcoholic Guinness one of the days just to hang out. We tried the cheese curds, the Shepherd’s pies and the Corned Beef Flatbread over 2 visits and all of it was delicious. If you’re staying in downtown Minneapolis give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.
This place has a fun vibe. Not sure if its truely Irish, but still fun. Menu is pretty short and they didn't have some items even from that limited menu. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Several of the tables are right next to the entrance and you can really feel the cold draft from outside on windy days.
Food itself was very good. Reasonably priced for the amount they give you. Came out in a reasonable time. Kinda deserted when I went. Must be the impact of businesses leaving the downtown metro area.
First Review (from Sunday lunch): I had the Ahi Tuna Salad, and it was excellent. Plenty of fresh greens plus fresh green beans. Good olives. Excellent tuna, prepared well. Decor is interesting with interesting architectural details; atmosphere is fun, but a little loud for my taste.
Second Review (from Monday dinner, downgrading review from 5 stars to 4 stars): By 7pm, they've run out of two kinds of fish, there's a huge wait to get seated, and half of the tables are empty. Something is strange about this picture. The food we do get is excellent (fish & chips), and the staff are very kind. However, the service was not very careful with my friend's food restrictions, that she had clearly stated up front. So, when the food came, the server brought only my dish, but not my friend's, explaining that "Sorry - it turns out that what you ordered actually does have ."
The Local is an awesome spot to have a quick, quality meal and beer. Service was prompt and friendly, the food was made quickly and fresh. I sat at the bar and felt very much at home. Highly recommend for gatherings with friends or family.
