Best KPortal Reviews

Today, I decided to try DJ Khalid's restaurant near the Florida Mall with my husband and sister. Upon entering, no one acknowledged us even though there was staff at the counter talking amongst themselves. It took a while to be addressed, but when we were approached, the young man had his pants sagging under his buttocks, which was very unprofessional. He sat us down and walked away. Then we waited about 10 minutes before a young lady approached our table with menus and plastic utensils. She walked away and came back another 10 minutes to ask for our drink and appetizer orders. As we were telling her what we wanted, she seemed distracted, and we ended up repeating ourselves twice. She walked away, and we just sat wondering how long this would take. When she did come back with our drinks and the wing sampler plate, she gave no small plates for us to use, so we needed to ask another staff member. She finally came back for our main order. My husband ordered shrimp and grits. Why did it come out like soup? It had great and red pepper slices, and the grits were so soupy that it required a spoon. My sister ordered chicken breast dinner with rice with pigeon peas and collards and a side of candied yams. The chicken came out looking like fajitas. The rice was bitter and barely had pigeon peas. She said the best part of her plate was the collards and the yams. I ordered the chicken tender dinner with mac & cheese and fries. No flavor on the chicken, mac was bland. The only thing good was the fries. And why don't they offer honey mustard as a dipping sauce? My husband and I ordered the flavored lemonades that were awesome. My sister ordered a lemon drop martini, which she really enjoyed. But we were all surprised it arrived in a small plastic cup. I just feel that if people want to open restaurants, they need to either be casual, fine dining, or drive thru services. Dinner was on real plates, sides came in cardboard containers, and utensils were plastic. I was so confused! Also, there is no refill on non alcoholic drinks. Surely, I didn't expect that. I will probably not go again or recommend it. This is the 3rd celebrity restaurant I've been disappointed by. I also tried Trick Daddy's Sunday's Eatery, which was all hype but awful. As well as Candy Buress's Old Lady Gang. Besides being there during an employee fight, the food was underwhelming.
Been to the other location and service and food was a lot better. Waitress wasn’t very attentive. The mystery drink & wings with licking sauce is always my go to. The food (sides) could have been hot they were warm. Didn’t like the lady taking a picture then coming back 5 mins later with it framed like we wanted to buy it. Maybe she should discuss things like this before snapping photos.
Great atmosphere and the food was delicious, but service is very slow. Took a good 15 minutes before we saw our waitress. Then it took about 50 mins for our appetizer to come out. It wasn't busy at all I guess they just move on their own time.
I stumbled upon this location, thinking I was going to the one close to the Millenial Mall. My GPS brought me right here and I couldn't be more thrilled that it did. The service was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great suggestions. I ordered the lemon pepper wings that were seasoned just right! I also ordered the shrimp dinner with double Mac. It had an up charge but it was well worth it. Don't forget to try the mystery drink. Trust me you will not be disappointed!
I went for the first time in April and it was delicious! Everything was seasoned to perfection and the drinks and deserts are amazing!!
The umbiance was great???????? now this place is full of young adults, it was a family of about 15 waiting when I went in. I stood at the counter for 5 minutes while they looked over me????. The family walked out, that's says something about your customer service. I waited 15 more minutes for my order, a steak dinner plate for $27 plus change. It wasn't even worth it, salty greens, burnt steak, and bland Mac & Cheese.. that's my last visit, food look so old!!
Arrived at establishment from driving for more 6 hours. Upon entering when were greeted about 5 minutes after entering. We were told that it would be 25 minutes wait for the table. Waited for about 45 minutes for the table and the table had been open the whole time.
There are no refills on the drinks. The food was mediocre. The food took about an 1 to get to us and my friend had to wait an additional 30 minutes for her food which she sent back for it not being to her liking. Her remake of the food take an additional 30 minutes. They were also out of lobster. It was stated that they didn’t serve teriyaki sauce but it was on the menu.
They also only do 2 checks for all parties no matter the size (which is crazy) we had 5 people in our party. Gratuity was already included (15%). Our server barely checked on us. The person that cleans the tables was more attentive to us and our needs than our waiter.
The women’s bathroom was disgusting and had tampons and the toilet tissue was wet (like how people are people so nasty). The tampon used applicators was touching the toilet tissue.
The food was delicious. The service we received was timely, the staff was friendly, and worked together as a team and made sure everyone had their meals at the same time so that we could eat as a family.
The turkey wings are a must have! The collard greens, mac n cheese, and fried snapper are more than enough to share with your loved ones.
The mystery lemonades were good and so was the pin-a colada’s.
We enjoyed the food and the entire experience so much that we returned to a second location before returning home to Memphis.
