Worth the effort, there’s plenty of spots to stop and if you’re lucky you might catch a glimpse of the wild ponies that roam. Now, to be realistic, I am not the fittest of people - it took me around 50 mins up and 30 down. A lot of people say this is an easy climb but I would say it’s moderate for the average person, but for someone who climbs hills and mountains on a regular, this is breezy. I have a friend who took the steepest route up and he managed it in 15 mins!!
Overall, it’s a steady incline for the first half, then the next quarter gets a little steeper and a short scramble to the top on the last quarter.
Good wee walk got to the top in 22 minutes. There is some steep dangerous parts especially for younger children. Dog friendly walk that's not to muddy. Would definitely recommend doing this hill.
I visited here recently we a friend who lives in the area, & wow what an incredible view. There is a path, that takes you from the bottom, all the way to the top. When at the top there are a few things to see, of course the views, but there is also a world war observation building (currently closed off), an old settlement building, a whale jaw replica, & two stone features. You may also get the chance to see a some ponies.
Sunrise at North Berwick Law was fairly spectacular, even with low lying cloud over much of the sky, popular too with around 15 there before 5am to catch it! Simple, short hike with avoidable scrambles, although we prefer the direct route. View across to Fife, Edinburgh, The Pentlands, and the rest of East Lothian. Surprised to happen across six wild ponies who just wander past munching on the long grass. Fun, if very early, start to a Saturday!
Absolutely loved the walk to the top! Can get quite steep and rocky in parts but mostly I'd say it was a steady path to the top. Was disappointed by the weather as the view from the top looks like it could be spectacular on a clearer day but it was still beautiful even on a grey day! We went up as a family with an age range of 6 - 70s and we all managed at least half of the climb so I think it's quite a nice one for all ages (with a bench approx halfway for anyone who wants to rest while the rest climb on to the summit)! There's lots of opportunity for good photos here and it's definitely an experience ???? a small car park at the bottom with free parking, fills up quickly but we managed to find space early afternoon on a Sunday!
Well worth the climb - the view at the top is amazing. The walk takes between 30 minutes to an hour, and there are also ponies on the hill!
Most surreal place, the snow was magical but then the further up just opens more to explore, better views & even the ponies ????????
Worth the climb when the sky is clear! It's about 30-45 mins to the summit depending on pace and path ???? very easy climb!
