Best KPortal Reviews

This is the coziest place in the area. I'm So glad I finally got to try it after trying to find parking on a Sunday for 35 minutes. It was worth it. I will definitely be back real soon. I had the best fried chicken of my life there. Super awesome music and the cook was amazing. All around loved the experience. Thank you.
This place is so good! The atmosphere is like the movie “the Cabin”! The people that own it are the kindest people and the food is like comfort food for the soul and homemade! You can’t leave with out their buttermilk pie with berry compote on top! You may have to wait a minute to be seated because chances are they are cooking, but you get your food fast and it’s well worth the wait! ????????
First time eating at this establishment. Breakfast was excellent, eggs, sausage and biscuit tasted marvelous (so much so, my wife went back later to buy extra biscuits). Our server was also the cook and host our morning there. Staff shortage or something...Really was no issue other than it started to get busy as we were leaving which may have caused some difficulties for the poor gentleman. Nice decor, sidewalk seating and a very pleasant meal. I'd go back in a minute.
Please avoid at all costs!! DO NOT DO IT! I promise, you will regret it! I thought this place was gonna be awesome because I saw a picture of the pancakes. But let me tell you, it was NOT WORTH IT. I usually don't leave reviews, but I had to for this one. The service was horrendous, the guy who took our order kept saying he had to go do the dishes. It seemed like he was put out that we were even there. The place looked cute but upon closer look, was actually really dirty. The waters had dirt floating around in them, the silverware had dried scrambled eggs all over it and there were a few pieces of long, blonde hair in my food. And the biscuits were dry and tasted like pure cornmeal as did the potatoes. Please do not waste your time or money, especially if you are a POC-you will be so sad. Go to Persephone Greys down the street, that's where I should have gone. :(
Would not return. Don’t recommend at all. We ordered the biscuits and gravy’s - it looked like it was put in a blender and placed on a plate. We also thought we saw a hair. The bacon and bread wasn’t bad but the eggs were burnt. Pretty sure the server/owner was drunk , he was friendly but the service was slow and hygiene was questionable. Save your money and go somewhere else.
This place has great omlets but lacks in other areas such as the biscuts and gravy, burrito and a few more. The lady is sweet but very intrucive of your space but again thats a personal preference thing. There is only one waiter which is the owner herself so the service is slow. It has a lot of potential but seems like its missing something. Overall was a decent meal but I don't think I'll come back.
My friends and I went to the Kitchen for lunch and were extremely disappointed.
1. The waitress was brand new and had absolutely no training about the menu, specialty items or how to serve. 2. As we were leaving, we saw the waitress wipe her snoty nose on her sleeve....
3. The food wasn't ready at the same time. Two of us ordered the same thing and our dishes arrived about 10 minutes apart. I also ordered a salad and was not given a choice of salad dressing. When I asked, I was told that they only have Ranch...
4. The bottoms of our sandwiches were so soggy that you couldn't pick them up.
5. The food was terrible. The pooled pulled pork had no flavor, and the meat texture felt like it was from a can.
6. The bathroom and the area outside were in bad shape. There was a pipe running from the water heater across the floor.
I wish I had taken photos...
A very happy accident. A spur of the moment decision to visit Pike's Peak on Sunday of Labor Day weekend turned out not to be the best thought out plan, which we knew was a possibility. You can't live in Colorado and not consider these things, right? The line of traffic backed up to the North Pole (for reference, I have no idea where the gate is as we've never visited before. Shameful for a Colorado native, right?!) So we turned around to find food in Manitou Springs. There was a parking place on their damaged, closed down main street, directly in front of The Kitchen. Fortuitous or Divine intervention, I do not know but yay!!! My understanding from another diner is that it's a husband and wife team. He cooks, she's out front looking like a modern day Rosie the Riveter. The food was.... ok, my golden tongue is failing me. The food was so good. I'm a huge biscuit and gravy fan. I hesitate to have it some places because.... well, just because. So. Glad. I tried it here!!! Hands down the best B&G I've ever had. And my bro-in-law used to make some amazing gravy and home made biscuits. Hubby gave the omelette two thumbs up and we both enjoyed the atmosphere. It makes you want to be a local when the hostess greets you by name and the local customers chat outside on the sidewalk with visitors. The flooding in July closed the main street due to a sink hole and it's really hurt businesses. It's such a cute town with the river running through it and the buildings built to hang over the river, shops to browse and fresh, pine scented air to breathe. Manitou isn't a normal day trip for us. It's a going through place. We visited once many years ago. We will be going back just to visit The Kitchen. I highly recommend you do too.
