Absolutely delicious sweet and sour, wonderfully kind staff!
A lovely rustic pub, perfect if you’re staying in the nearby campsite or walking in the area. Absolute must visit if you’re staying in or around Keswick.
Food is alright big portions just no meat in eat only vegetarian options. Bar is very outdated. Barman making that pub little bit better
Will you ever update the Crag Bar? Such a shame as this could be a lovely place for a good local pint.
Please remove the awful vinyl garden tables and the random shower screen at the bar.
Such a shame as the owner is so friendly.
Reading the 1 star reviews below regarding the bar I can only agree with everything said. This was like some kind of surreal experience. Just bizarre. We were staying at the nearby campsite and a local had told us earlier in the day how bad this place was and to avoid it but at the end of a long days walk, curiosity got the better of us and we called in for a drink. The interior is just so strange. Outdated, grubby and soulless with the oddest mix of furniture and materials.. There was a pile of crisps under a glass dome on the bar counter (why??) . Another customer ordered chow mein (just a bowl of really sticky noodles) and the barman/owner brought a separate plate of carrot out that I think he’d forgotten to add. We ordered 4 half pints and the fosters absolutely stank of eggs which is when we remembered a taxi driver had also told us to only drink bottled beer if we ever went in! This is such a waste of a genuine opportunity to create an inviting bar on the edge of two popular campsites. The owner really needs to think of selling it on and recognise that this really is not the right job/past-time for him.
I had a lovely meal in the bar at the hotel yesterday evening. Barry, the owner was very pleasant and polite, despite being rushed off his feet while we were in. The vegan food was very tasty, good portions and reasonable prices. Some great music in the background! Very friendly place. Definitely recommend.
It was a lovely place with fantastic hosts who went above and beyond. Clean room good little bar. Barry and Van were always pleasant even when I woke them drunk at 0130 in the morning. We went as it was my other halfs birthday and the lakes is a fantastic place. Even tho they currently don't do breakfast, Barry and Van made some awesome pancakes for us.
The sweetest little place, was served by a lovely man who was very welcoming. It's very 60's/70's yes, but modern decor would feel odd and msisplaced in an old building with such character, only adds to the charm! |They have the best vegetarian and vegan food, was surprised just how good it was. Would definitely recommend and go back again!
We were camped close by so decided to try out the Heights bar. I can safely say it was the worst pint I have ever had. My friends had the Fosters and I had the Stella. They were both disgusting. We couldn't decide if they were off/old or tasted of line cleaner. We told the bar tender and he said no one else seemed to think so. We watched three walkers order three pints, they sat down with their drinks. After a couple of sips, the three of them got up and walked out never to return. Shocking lager and the food was utterly underwhelming! A big pile of noodles with barely any vegetables. Very very poor! Like the three walkers I will NOT be returning!!
