The Gift Tree is a cosy and homely place for a lunch, or to stop for coffee and a treat. There is also a good choice of teas. We were visiting family in the area for a few weeks and visited multiple times. We always got a warm welcome from Helen. She was lovely with my son too and had a high chair on hand. Try the chocolate orange brownie, it is delicious and served warm!
Had a scrumptious lunch with friends in The Gift Tree in Corstorphine. Looking forward to next Wednesday's Quiche and lime and ginger cheesecake.
Cosy and friendly place to have coffee and cake or brunch. Friendly service and not hurried out
Wanting to bring the reviews back down to reality with our experience in this place just the other day, from which we were very dissatisfied.
On entry to the cafe we were pleasantly greeted by the lady serving us. We were told that due to there being no chef at the moment she was operating on a limited menu. That was fine by us as we were not there for anything fancy. We ordered two flat whites which came in mugs, so we didn’t get flat whites, we got two lattes instead. The coffee was virtually tasteless.
We ordered a sandwich and a toastie, which arrived with not even a side salad, some crisps or even coleslaw! I understand the chef is on holiday but surely anyone can put a little bit of salad or crisps on a plate? I mean a little bit of presentation goes a long way. Judging by the bill at the end, it seems we were also charged normal price as well.
We went here because of the reviews we read on here. So I just wanted to put an up to date one on.
The Gift Tree is such a great place to dine, with such a lovely atmosphere, it’s peaceful, cheerful and full of character. The food is absolutely superb. We have now had the pleasure of sampling a few dishes, perfect in every way, tastey delicious treats that you will see you return for more! The master chef ‘Jean-Guy’, a gentleman with such a passion for food, we much enjoy the chat during our visit. Helen is also a big part of The Gift Tree, she looks after everyone so well, ensuring the needs are met of all the customers. Can’t recommend this little quaint place enough.
Absolutely incredible food and service here. The chef Jean-Guy knows what he's doing. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, you will not be disappointed. We had 6 plates between 3 of us and I had to purchase a jar of the chef's homemade jam too as it was so good. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Edinburgh
A small unprepossessing cafe & gift shop tucked away on a side street of an Edinburgh suburb - good for a cup of coffee and somewhere to sit out of the rain perhaps..?
BUT!
The food is absolutely superb, tasty & aromatic, a joy to experience; served by people who are not only expert, but enthusiastic with it.
Put another way, The Gift Tree is an undiscovered gem & well worth going out of one's way to experience.
Delicious food (all homemade I think), lovely staff, very efficient service. Lovely place to have lunch and there's also a beautiful selection of gifts. Will be back again
