The place was fairly busy for a Tuesday, so my anticipation was high for a good experience. The waitstaff seemed to be a bit unorganized and not very warm. The waitress came to take our order but since we had not ordered here previously, we asked for another minute. We tried to flag the waitress down a couple of times to no avail, it took about 15+mins to finally place the order. The food was ok. I ordered eggs over medium, they were not. The pork sausage was very garlicky (didn’t like) but that’s a personal preference as my friend enjoyed them. The pancake was filling and delicious. I would suggest investing a little money in new menus that aren’t stained and crinkled. Also, perhaps ask your waitstaff to smile and at least pretend to like working there.
We visited town for the weekend to attend a wedding, and had a lot of time to kill so we made the café our first stop, and it was great! There were two of us on a Saturday morning and we got a table immediately. The menu had a good variety and the food came out quickly. The staff was nice and the food was so tasty! Not far from downtown and highly recommend!
Just 3 stars? Let me explain. First, the coffee is $3.50. For ok drip coffee. Not really good stuff, but ok. Which was lukewarm, not hot. Had to wait about 5 minutes until our server came back to get some hot coffee. Ok, stuff happens. But they use of those little creamer pods. I want real creamer. That brings me to the butter. The French toast was great but they use those cheap packets. I want whipped butter, not margarine packets. For those things alone it's one demerit. And then my food wasn't hot. And the breakfast potatoes are ok. Again not great, but ok. Am I being nitpicky? Probably. My wife just didn't care for her country Benedict. I get it, sometimes you just don't get the right thing. But add it all up & our experience was less than ok. Was it just a freak experience? Maybe. But next time we go for breakfast it won't be here. I really like the duck confit, though. Not many CDA restaurants serve duck confit. I've had it before & enjoyed it. For that reason alone I bumped it up to 3 stars from the 2 I was going to leave
Cozy atmosphere and beautiful food with wonderful service!! Couldn’t ask for a better breakfast!! We will definitely be back!
The food here is fresh and worth standing in line for. The food is gluten free as needed and locally sourced. Love the food. Suuuuuper good. Never had a bad meal here. Try the breakfast spaghetti you won't be disappointed!!!
This is the best place to go for breakfast.
We had a very long wait but it was 4th of July weekend. That being said the wait was worth it for what we got!!
I got a bloody Mary and it was very delicious and savory. Not too spicy, just right
The French toast was super fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. The yogurt with fruit on top was EXCELLENT I loved how fluffy the yogurt was. Coffee was perfect.
Overall one of the best food experiences I've had in a long time. I'll have to try the lemon curd next time.
I have never been disappointed by The Garnet Cafe. The food is next-level and delicious - a simple plate of scrambled “green eggs” looks and tastes amazing! Be sure to bring an empty stomach as the portions are large and share-worthy (if that’s your thing). My only minor concerns would be that parking is limited and seating is crowded in some spaces. The food is worth it.
Sign of a good breakfast place is do the eggs right and have a good juicy piece of ham. Garnet cafe delivers. The raspberry jam and lemon curb were pretty good too.
