Best KPortal Reviews
Pleasantly surprised on my first visit by the lightly fried, plump shrimp and garlic butter sautéed shrimp plus a generous portion of in-house beer battered cod as the centerpiece of their fish & chips. The fries were excellent!
Enjoyed the quite busy yet friendly, professional wait staff. Will return!
Would give zero stars if possible. I ordered food to go and was not impressed at all. Ordered fried pickles and onion rings as appetizers and both were very bland. Ordered fish and chips and a burger for entrées. The fish and chips had no flavor at all and the fish was overcooked and soggy. The burger was cooked perfect! And it tasted good until I was almost done and I realized I was chewing on paper from the cheese. I haven't been here in years and thought I would give it a shot but I will NOT ever return. The prices online are not accurate, online my order was around $45 but in reality it was almost $70. Hopefully for their sake the new owners might be able to turn it around and also improve on their health score as well....
They are under new ownership as of February 2023. The burgers & pizzas are still good. The Greek Salad is good, but be aware the ‘dressing’ is just olive oil with VERY little sprinkle of something that adds no taste. So maybe get a different dressing. If you get the Caesar salad, get the dressing on the side. They drown it. The gumbo tastes and looks like rice & gravy with 4 shrimp (literally laid on top) and a couple slices of sausage. Not much taste at all. The new owner is super friendly and I’m sure they will get the kinks worked out.
On the way down to the beach, we found this perfect little spot to have lunch. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. The staff was very friendly, and our server was very attentive.
We ordered fried pickles, Pork potato skins, the burger, chicken caesar salad, and pizza. The burger was juicy, and cooked perfectly. The pizzas were homemade and tasty, and the pickles were thick and fried to perfection. I felt like the potato skins were a little bland, but a good concept, and the chicken on the caesar salad was a little over cooked.
Overall, we enjoyed our lunch and will be back.
Shrimp basket Thursday was ok...Cobalt last night was good...The Galley, today, was definitely the best!!! Best food, best price, great atmosphere!!! We had the fried fish...FANTASTIC, grilled Red Snapper...FANTASTIC, burger FANTASTIC!!! And the best fried shrimp any of us have had in a long time!!! Highly recommend the Galley!!! You can't go wrong
This was a great off the beaten path restaurant and bar! The food was phenomenal, and the staff was very friendly! I had the burger with pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, and the other trimmings, and it was one of the better burgers I've had at a restaurant. The choices of different cheeses and other fixings were very unique and made it a great experience to building a great burger! My friends that I ate with had fish and chips and a cobb salad, and they both said their meals were great! I will definitely be back in the future!!
Wonderful meal, excellent service, friendly ambience. Overall, a top-notch experience.
We stopped here for an early dinner. So glad we did!
The reviews are right: this place is terrific!
I had tonight's special, red snapper, grilled. (See photo.) Delicious!
My wife had the burger, and it was the best, big and juicy and perfectly cooked.
Our waitress, Abigail, was friendly, prompt, accurate, and attentive without being a pest. We were lucky to get her. And the location, right on the river, is cool.
We're coming back. Maybe we'll move to Bon Secour to be closer.
My husband and I visited this little place right on the Bon Secour River for lunch. We were immediately greeted by Jake. Jake was awesome. He was our bartender and server. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We shared the fish and chips. It was great and they had malt vinegar on the bar, being British, this impressed me. The beer was very cold and my mixed drink was perfect. I highly recommend Jake and the Galley.
