Great location for town and lake access. Water brings lots and lots of midges. Lodge itself was 2 star. Lake view through dirty windows smeared with kids' handprints. Smoke detector missing battery. Panel punched out in wall. No set of matching crockery or wine glasses. And it was a sin that there was no corkscrew! On site the food was good. Entertainment 2 star. Inside was generally clean. Still enjoyed the holiday. ROI questionable.
Brilliant again! I have reviewed this restaurant favourably in the past and do so again here. They have trialled a tapas style menu recently but they are now back to the previous menu offering a good choice of starters and mains. Whilst I love it here and stayed loyal, I do prefer this menu rather than the tapas one and I am pleased to see it back on the table again. The staff are friendly and attentive. We had the fish platter, followed by lamb shank and chicken. Very nice. Will be back again soon.
Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing building... Made my anniversary /birthday meal one to remember. WILL DEFINITELY BE COMEING BACK ???? definitely recommend the fish platter ???????????? also love that there's no kids after 5. (under 8 I think it is) great atmosphere and don't have to put up with other peoples kids screaming ???? can't wait to be back
A wonderful building to enjoy a good meal.
We opted for the sharing tapas style selections and really enjoyed the "tempura chicken with teriyaki noodles", returned a few days later for more of the same.
Great service from very friendly staff.
Unfortunately quite a bad experience. Chicken stroganoff (pictured) had no taste, as if it had been reheated in a microwave, however not for long enough as it was also room temperature. The rice it was served with was just as bland. Tomato soup for starter - WAY too much salt - the opposite problem to the main course. The chef clearly didn't bother tasting it before serving. Overall: expensive, low quality.
Great burgers, and amazing coffee. Nice little outdoor seating area that's set back off the main road, so relatively quiet compared to other places in Ambleside. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic restaurant, very attentive staff, food was amazing
Great food, reasonable price. Friendly staff.
