Called in for a late lunch and we definitely chose the best pub. Very friendly bar staff helpful and happy always a bonus. Great choice of beers from the Joules brewery plus others. Food menu offers a roast dinner every day Wednesday to Sunday if I remember correctly. We had a scampi and a double cheeseburger both with fabulous home made perfectly cooked chips, veg and salad too. Easily the best cheeseburger I've had in a pub for a long time. Scampi was a generous portion and very nice too. Unbelievable prices burger £7 scampi around the same. Everything on the menu was good value and from what we saw all looked delicious. After eating we sat in the lovely covered patio area which is clearly equipped for live entertainment. We're definitely going to return to check that out. Great to find a real pub with a great atmosphere.
The very nice landlord graciously allowed us to take our very wet dog inside where we were welcomed to hot tea and hot chocolate. The chef was on holiday but he even offered that we could buy the food from Gregs and bring it back to his pub to eat it. Very nice gesture and kept us out of the rain today.

Fantastic service and a brilliant team! Really welcoming and friendly. Food was freshly prepared and really tasty. Such good value. Highly recommend!
A pleasant atmospheric Pub with friendly staff and delicious reasonably priced food. The Cottage pie and veg were served piping hot. The gammon was fresh and perfectly cooked. We had to wait quite a while, but it was worth it to have freshly cooked, delicious hot food. And it s dog friendly with doggie treats for our pet. Well worth a visit

I wad looking for a traditional historic pub, couldn't have asked for better than this pub. Service with a smile,warm and welcoming. The bears were great and the food was lovely. Going back soon
