Ate here tonight 11/04/24.
Didn't book but was no problem.
Steak and ale pie delicious although the veg could have been cooked 1-2 mins more. The cajun pasta arrived in huge bowl.
Couldn't manage a pudding but tasty coffee.
Bill only £50, for 2 soft drinks, 2 main courses, 1 coffee, and 1 ice cream dessert ( 2 scoops).
Felt very full and lovely staff.
Music was a bit loud but did sit next to the speaker as wanted a window seat.
We found this place by accident when we ended up in Lossiemouth in our campervan. What an unexpected gem! Cosy atmosphere, staff were nice and the food was wonderful! We had the Thai chicken noodle soup (wow!!), parmesan and truffle chips (great portion) cheesy garlic mushrooms (yum) and cajun chicken strips (glorious)....then came the garlic bread....the only reason they get 4 stars not 5. Everything else was freshly made and so tasty, but the garlic bread was those awful pre-made frozen slices which are tastless. So disappointing as the rest of the food was simply wonderful!! I would definitely recommend a visit, just avoid the garlic bread. We would 100% go back again next time we are in the area.
My wife and I popped in for a bar lunch it was very busy but it is quite spacious inside so we were seated right away. Food was very good. If I had a gripe it was the limited choice of alcohol free beer.
Visited last week for an evening meal (not booked) staff were accommodating and courteous and managed to get me a table. Had a starter (fried chicken strips) and main (beef and ale pie).
In summary
+ food was excellent, tasty and plentiful with good quality ingredients.
+ friendly and courteous staff.
+ value for money.
- service was slow.
+ would definitely visit again and would recommend ????????????
We have specific requirements when looking for a café/restaurant. Fortunately, the Firth is (very) dog-friendly and has a vegan menu. The service and enthusiasm of the waitress were excellent.
Sadly disappointed. The service ground to a standstill and we waited 40 minutes for desert. Even though some of the diners were young children and all they wanted was ice-cream.
When it's mummy & daddy's wallet opening to the tune of £££ you expect better.
The meals for several people got mixed comments from the table. The starter was amazing then the main was like a salt mine. I mean inedible.
Others said they loved it, so ratings seemed to vary from meal to meal.
Overall not bad, but the chef should be trying sauces etc because nobody with a reasonable pallet would serve something so potent (Cajun).
Also, we had to get up about 5 times to ask for service, refills etc.
I'm hoping it was just a bad day at the office as I have had a good meal there before.
Fantastic location. Good menu. Prices average for area. Worth a visit.
One of the best places to eat in Lossiemouth, with really good quality food. The staff are lovely although they can get overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of patrons, which slows service from time to time.
