Great local find in Waverly, IA! In town on business and we were directed to the Fainting Goat. There was a small crowd but it was a Tuesday night. The menu had SO many options that sounded great! Tried the Chicken Gizzards... breaded different than what I am used to so not my favorite but good nonetheless. Settle on the Waffle Battered Orange Thai Chicken Wings. The were delicious!!!! HUGE wings, COVERED in sauce, IN-HOUSE made Ranch. Can't. Go. Wrong. I had a slight issue when the food came out but they were super friendly, quick to resolve and handled everything very professionally!
We will not be back, I hoped for a better place with a new owner, but no , same old stuff. Service was slow and non accommodating. I felt like I was a burden to her. She was the only waitress but it was slow, only one other table occupied. We were served our drinks with no napkins, the humidity was horrible that day so our drinks created condensation puddles all over our table. When she finally came close enough for us to get her attention we called her over and we asked for napkins she appeared not notice the lake that had accumulated on our table. We did not get napkins until our meal was served. After she plopped our plates into the puddles. We had a hard time getting timely attention on other needs as well. I liked my food, but husband had a problem with the dinner roll. It was harder than a rock when he asked if it could be replaced she offered a side like potatoes or cottage cheese he wanted bread . She said they didn't have any. Steak was grisly. He didn't get any salt on his margeretta and she didn't offer to remake it , she pointed out the salt shaker on our table.
The kitchen was slow, and we waited a bit for the food. But it was well worth the wait! The food was awesome and our server was great. Burgers were a little overdone but still very good. The Brazilian pasta is the bomb. I will be back.
Terrible staff. Always.
Before we were seated, a pink haired, perhaps a shift manager (?) felt it necessary to berate a server in front of us. Unprofessional.
We're Seated. Waited for server.
Waited some more. Waited longer still..
Left.
There was one other table of 4. We had missed the lunch rush..
Last time we went, (3yrs prior) same thing happened.
Wouldn't know if the food is good- never made it that far. Menu seemed interesting but overpriced.
Brand new menu means food comes to you table correctly prepared. Previously the menu had around 6 pages, and was far too much. Food would be late, and more often than not incorrect. This has been rectified, and my meal this Saturday was very good.
1st Trip: Slow service isn't a big deal if staff is busy, but it's annoying when people are just standing around chatting.
2nd Trip: Gave it a year before going back. This time we were the only people there, and we were attended to promptly, but apparently the full plate of food spilled on the floor under a nearby table wasn't as important as standing around and chatting while not waiting on us. Let's wait 2 years this time.
3rd (and final) Trip: Ribeye sandwich was tasting so good that I let my wife have the rest after not liking her sandwich. She thought it was good until she found the long black hair in the meat.
Is our luck just that bad, or is there a pattern? I realize two stars doesn't make sense, but fainting goat's are people too.
Update: With a new owner, we'll probably give them another shot.
We ordered soup and a grilled cheese and waited 30 minutes before any of it came out! We even had to ask our server to bring out the soup because she obviously wasnt going do it on her own! It wasnt even busy... in fact she was standing at the bar on her cell phone the whole night. The soup was edible but the grilled cheese was terrible. If you go ask to not sit in Andrea's section. The other servers looked nice and looked like they knew how to bring food out. This place peaks at its name and cool neon sign.
Great new menu featuring some unique items. The wing sauces are very tasty and not the traditional flavors. The service has vastly improved under the new chef/owner.
