The food was decent but grossly overpriced. $62 for BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, with seasonal vegetables for me and scallops with risotto and asparagus for my wife. It did include tip. Flavor was good but not for that price. Service was good but it did take quite a time for the food to arrive and it wasn't that busy.
One of my top 3 favorite places. The atmosphere and location is very artsy and unique. The food is delicious! The Pork Chop is awesome. Sunday brunch is the best in town but call a head for reservations on Sundays they fill up fast.
VISIT THIS PLACE! We were in town for a friend's birthday, so the build your Own Bloody Mary's were a must-have! And OMG, they are AMAZING!
Food was incredible, the beer list was spot-on, and service was impeccable. Shout out to Constance, Jessica, Ricky, and Darin for incredible service and attention to detail.
I could go on all day about what a great place this is! I had lunch and a cocktails and it was phenomenal, Hannah my server was knowledgeable of the menus and so friendly. Definitely will be back in a hurry!!
Ambiance was nice, staff was very friendly and welcoming. Made a reservation, and was glad I did as it filled up quickly. Food was so so. Started with an order or shrimp poppers and roasted bone marrow. Shrimp arrived cold. My friend arrived and we ordered. She ordered the flatbread, I the chicken and waffles. Food was delivered quickly. Chicken was moist and delicious. The waffles were subpar. My one complaint was having to walk through the kitchen to use the restroom. Food was sitting out in the open. Seemed very un-hygienic, bordering on dangerous in the event of someone crazy person poisining the food....or sneezing for that matter.
To end on a positive note, the beer selection was excellent and and they had a great outdoor seating area. Will possibly return to drink, but will skip on the food.
Like most restaurants in this area, The Dapper Pig strays dangerously close to the traditional hipster eatery method of style over substance.
Weld some bike frames together and hang them from the ceiling, cover all lightbulbs in Ball jars, intentionally use mismatched napkins and give some menu items quirky names. Now you're on your way to distracting the 20-something crowd from the fact that some prices are outright ridiculous.
I'm looking at you, $9.99 Bloody Mary.
I took a friend for Sunday brunch, arriving an hour before the Pig was supposed to shut.
We didn't see our food until about ten minutes after the restaurant was technically closed.
We were seated on the second floor with a wonderful view. As we gazed out on the gentrified district of Evansville we were treated to some live Christmas music played on a piano near our table. It was so lovely we almost forgot we'd not seen hide nor hair of the waitstaff for twenty minutes.
In the end our hour long wait was due to my order: q $19.99 plate of chicken and waffles.
Yes, I raised an eyebrow as well.
Much like the restaurant itself, the chicken and waffles chose the easy path of flashy presentation and bulk presence over quality.
The waiter deposited what looked like multiple orders of the same item, as my plate had a thigh, wing, and breast. This mountain of poultry is precariously placed on a foundation of one unfortunate waffle.
If one looks closely they can see the "Honey-sriracha drizzle" that did nothing to cover up the taste of burnt cooking oil and overcooked unseasonably chicken; so rubbery the breading barely adhered at all.
That porthole of bare breast in the attached picture isn't from my fork, it arrived from the kitchen looking that shaggy.
One could delete two pieces of chicken, improve the breading and go boneless. That'd both cut down cook times and ingredients while still delivering a quality product.
Well, attempt to deliver a quality product. At least it'd allow one to knock a few dollars off the most expensive item on their brunch menu.
My friend ordered a BLT with avocado and received an Instagram-bait meal. Absolutely gorgeous sandwich and they attested to it being quite delicious.
It seems I bet on the wrong horse as far as food at The Dapper Pig, but for $19.99 I expect a bit more for something as hard to screw up as Chicken and Waffles.
Wonderful atmosphere; friendly staff!
The Fried Chicken & Waffles and the peanut butter chocolate cake was excellent!!
Neat upcycling decor as well.
Such a great place!! Superb food, fabulous service and the most awesome Blood Marys.
