Best KPortal Reviews

We just had our first visit to the newly re-opened restaurant.
Excellent service, a nice menu, great beer and good value for money. The dining area was managed sensibly within the current restrictions but still felt friendly and comfortable. The host and staff are very attentive and helpful. My mixed grill was a treat for the eyes and taste buds.
We'll be back !
Really lovely place. New managers are friendly and welcoming. The establishment is very well appointed and clean, with lovely seating areas. There is a nice outdoor seating area and they have attractive looking holiday cottages. The food is excellent. The portions are fantastic and the quality is superb. Service was a little slow the other day but we were warned it would be, as they are still building the business they are clearly running a skeleton kitchen crew. Don't let that put you off though, it is the sort of place and standard of food you are happy o wait for.
Rory, Emily & staff at the Cresswell Arms provided excellent service during our one-night stay, we felt very looked after. Our evening meal was delicious (bavette streak & the burger, chocolate tart) and, again, the service was excellent. Breakfast was again, delicious. The room was cosy, the bed comfortable and had everything we needed (TV, brew kit & water). Highly recommended.
It's the first time we've been there since the new landlord and landlady took over. Really welcoming surroundings and the makeover has seen significant changes : spacious restaurant area with excellent decor + a bar that attracts locals and is dog friendly. The menu caters for all tastes and is very reasonably priced starters range from garlic mushrooms to a mixed sharing platter ( which is a meal in itself )
My partner had fish and chips and said it was so fresh it could have been caught that morning .
I had chicken breast stuffed with black pudding in a whiskey white sauce fresh seasonal veg and chips which were more like wedges. First rate food Excellent service and the owners themselves were so friendly it was as if we'd been going there years. My partner mentioned in passing it was my birthday : we declined desserts as we were both so full but out came chocolate brownie with ice cream and happy birthday piped in chocolate : such a great touch these two people care about their customers . A lovely meal in great surroundings in friendly company what more could you ask for on a cold winters night : a log fire perhaps yes that was lit and just added to the ambience. I'd recommend the Cresswell Arms to anyone : we'll certainly be going back . Regrettably this has now closed after a devastating fire it boarded up and unlikely to reopen ☹️
Rooms are provided at the back of the pub in what used to be some sort of outbuildings, now converted into accomodation.||My room had an en-suite and a very powerful shower in a nice wlk in enclosure. It was a bit too powerful as water was bouncing off me, over the shower cubicle and onto the floor ! No complaints because it had plenty of hot water and was a very large cubicle, a lovely change from the usual over the bath jobs.||Room itself was a good size with plenty of wardrobe and draw space, decent sized flatscreen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and everything needed for a stopover. ||The room was a little on the cold side but not enough to make it uncomfortable and the wall mounted electric fire didn't really make much difference.||Breakfast is ordered for your preferred time in the morning and is cooked fresh when you get to the dining room. A selection of cereals / yoghurt / fruit would be a nice addition though ?||A good nights sleep and would not hesitate to stay again.
Just had a weekend at the Cresswell Arms and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was excellent.
The room was clean and well stocked and i was delighted to be able to say
I slept with Marilyn Monroe! (She was the theme in our room.)
The only slight problem was a dicky TV set.
Overall, I'd thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone.
3 of us had dinner. Word on the street was positive so we were looking forward to it.||And boy, were we not disappointed. The car park was full at 7.45 and just managed to squeeze in||We skipped starters and went straight to mains. Southern fried Pollock, pork belly and a vegetarian recipe made with polenta especially for my daughter. Superb, just superb. A decent plate full but not over faced with a mountain of food, just right.||Dessert, 2 had sticky toffee pudding, my choice was the dark chocolate torte. Mine was the best, ha ha. I've never had a torte so smooth rich and balanced.||Speaking with one of the owners, this is just the start. OMG this place could be one place to watch. Can't wait to try it in a month or twos time to see how it is evolving.||This is 5* and needs to be tried. Make the effort, you shouldn't be disappointed.
Made very welcome. Whatever we requested the hosts supplied with a smile. Easy to get round from room to pub and dining, my gluten free diet was not an issue. It was lovely to stay in a place that was not the same as hotel chain type accommodation. Fresh milk in a china jug, China cups and saucers, a lovely touch. Lovely location, we have recommended to family and friends and would go again. Thank you we wish you every success.
