This place is a real Gem!! The best country plate of food I had in a long time. I came here due to the truck stop across the street being closed and I regret not coming here soon. I had a delicious plate of fried chicken liver with gravy peppers and onions, fried squash, loaded baked potatoe and fried apples and I left beyond satisfied with food left to take because portions are healthy and not expensive!! Staff very welcoming and polite as well!
Asked server what the Copper Pot was known for. I mean all should have a signature dish, right? Whelp she didn’t know. I asked what was good and she told me the southern plate, which had a double batter chicken breast, mash w/ gravy and an additional side. She went on to suggest other items but I figured the first she suggested must be the best. Plus I got a side salad.
Expecting this deep fried juicy chicken breast….. all I got was a Tyson or generic flat fried chicken. Same cheep thing you get anywhere. Mash potatoes weren’t hot and a small portion of green beans. Did I mention the single slice of cucumber, three cherry tomato salad?
It all tasted ok for what it was but nothing that was home made. Prob all frozen and canned. The price made it all good….
I will have to try few other items next time…
Found the restaurant by accident and it was a good accident. It's a local southern family style delightful stop on a quick trip from WV to NC and to home. The choices were so many. I chose the grilled chicken plate with baked potato and mac and cheese. It was ready in just a few minutes and it was delicious. Big portions too. I really liked the American Flag on the wall behind the counter as well as the nice sayings on display throughout the dining room. I'm looking forward to breakfast on our next trip.
Right off I-77 North at Exit 100, this comfy restaurant has delicious down home cooking! Our waitress, Heather, confirmed that Mt. Airy IS Mayberry NC where actor Andy Griffith was born. Her grandpa went to school with Mr. Griffith, also! Stop in for a rest, a good meal, and 15 mins down the road from Andy's hometown! ????
We were passing through and decided to stop here for lunch. It was pretty delicious and the service was also very kind. I got the meatloaf with some sides and my mom got their beef and veggie soup of the day. Both were terrific and we only paid roughly 13$ for both.
My only comment would be that the water tasted a little off, but that just means next time I’ll get a tea instead. ☺️
Lauren was a great server. She kept my drink full and was very attentive to us. The burger was good, a bit dry but still good. The Buffalo chips were excellent. My manager had the down south plate. He said the chicken was dry but the rest was great. We will definitely try this restaurant again to see if it can be better. Has good potential
Traveling through the area and found this hidden little gem. Came recommend by some folks for their local delights and it delivered. Intended to try the dinner time experience but ended up with a breakfast treat which was superb as well. They have a house speciality breakfast that i recommend. It hits the spot. Great attentive servers and a quick food out order makes this a breeze. Quirky decor throughout and nice folks dining around make this a sure pleasant experience. ????
Phenomenal food. Salt and pepper catfish and sides were all delicious. So glad it was recommended to us.
