We were in Tarland after a 10 mile hillwalk with our dog and were looking for a dog friendly cafe for coffee and cakes. We tried the Tarland tearooms, which unfortunately did not allow dogs. A shame as we had been in the Corner House Cafe, Aboyne the day before which was dog friendly and very busy ! However we saw that the Commercial Hotel was dog friendly and had lovely Coffee and Scones. Top marks. A Shame that other places loose out.
Stay for 3 nights and had dinner 2 nights
Rooms were comfortable and seemed clean enough.TV remote was a very dirty tho. Shower was good hot and powerful. Food was good and I really enjoyed it. Vegetarian menu could have been better tho with maybe something simple like Mac and cheese. Overall enjoyed staying there. I'd definitely stay again.
Stayed a night in one of the rooms and had my evening meal here too.
The room was great, spotless, quiet, nicely furnished and a good size. Nice bathroom and some nice little touches in the room too. For the price it was very good.
Dinner was lovely too, everything tasted fresh and there was a good choice.
Everyone I encountered was very friendly and welcoming, would gladly stay and dine here again and would recommend to others.
Went for family birthday lunch ???? first class???? small portions available for children ???? could not fault the commercial in the slightest ???? staff excellent ???? and the Hotel is scrupulously clean ???? extensive menu ???? on a very cold sunday the commercial was lovely and cosy ????
Went again for lunch in our local. In the the bar area as we had our dog with us. Excellent food with good veg options.
Fantastic. Stayed a couple of nights for work. Great food, clean simple rooms, pool and darts.

Stayed two nights in early August 2023. Very comfortable and clean room. Excellent evening meals, and very good breakfast. Ample parking. Staff generally very approachable and friendly. No-one around when we checked out which was a pity as we wanted to mention that thermostat valve had fallen off our bathroom radiator! Hadn't adjusted radiator, but just noticed on last morning that it was on the floor!! Certainly recommend The Commercial.
