The batter was doughy and thick not crispy. The fish was dry, bland and overall extremely disappointing. The chips were soggy. Portion size was huge but left most of it.
Am sure small changes could improve these issues, but as it is I will not be returning
I don’t like to leave negative reviews but we just had another really disappointing meal from The Chippy and I’m hoping this might provide helpful feedback, especially as both times we’ve eaten here have been bad.
The batter was really thick, had no crunch, was doughy and the fish to batter ratio was all off. The chips were also really soft and none of them had any crunch.
Perhaps everything needed to be cooked a bit longer? Something needs to change because the meal was inedible.
The portion size was generous, however.
It's a take away, so the atmosphere is like any other chippy. Good food, but the chips can be a little soft and great at times. Excellent kebab, my family tell me.
Batter was undercooked and doughy, fish was bland and chips cardboard like.

Food is tasty and also good value, especially the lunch time meal deal. And a notably sizeable choice of things too.
Just had the worst cod and chips I have ever had two identical meals barely eatable and wasted, fish was eighty percent just very hard batter in both meals and the chips were tiny bits and soggy, been coming here for years but never again,over the road next time to Smarts
