Best KPortal Reviews
Stayed for 3 nights in log cabin on site.
Stunning area, rolling hills, quiet.
Plenty of scenic areas to visit.
Cabin was fitted out to a high standard, hot tub was a great addition on the outside deck.
Restaurant open Saturday and Sunday for food which is homely, great portion sizes and well priced. A must try.
Carol and Ian could not do enough to make us feel welcome.
Would absolutely recommend a stay here.
Booked in for Christmas carvery and it did not disappoint! Dog friendly and great customer service.
Massive veg selection with all the trimmings and really tasty gravy to boot.
There’s a reason you have too book advance!
Spacious parking area and big garden area which would be great come summer months.
Everyone had a good meal and the sweets were delicious too.
Highly recommend
A wonderful, welcoming country pub. One of the best Sunday roasts we've ever had. Very reasonable, plentiful meat and food each veg and exceptional staff! Only just outside Hay on Wye we'd highly recommend.
Good food, generous portions, good beer, friendly staff and reasonable prices.
What a great place to stay in your motorhome or caravan and have a drink/ meal in the pub on site! Like having your own pub in your back garden! The site facilities are excellent too with EHU, clean showers, toilet block, washing facilities. Note there is no motorhome service point for grey waste. But you do get satellite tv hookup and your own fresh water tap! The pub has a good range of beers and excellent food with helpful staff. The river wye is a short walk away.
Had an amazing 2 nights at The Castlefields in one of their log cabins. The cabin was fully equipped to a very high standard and spotlessly clean.
The unit was spacious and had a lovely flow out onto the deck, outdoor seating area and to the hot tub.
There were gowns provided and lovely large towels.
Our meal in the restaurant was stunning. I had a very generous portion of the chicken curry. The service from the staff was excellent.
The accomodation is suitable for my elderly parents so I will definitely be booking to come back with them.
We visited nearby Hay on Wye which was 5 minutes away and very quaint with all of its bookshops, antique stores and independents.
Thanks to the hosts Ian and Carol for a lovely weekend. I will be back!
Had a great Sunday Carvery lunch. Plenty of meat, well cooked and tasty. Great selection of veg and all hot.
Will certainly be looking to book again, excellent value.
Service was a little brisk and hurried not much in the way of pleasantrys from the waiting staff. Room was a little crowded and noisy. Felt a bit cramped. Newly refurbished so decor was lovely and fresh looking. I went for the Sunday carvery. Great value for money on the main and all was well cooked and delicious but desserts were a bit on the pricey side for what it was and choice of dessert was a bit limited. Overall a good place for sunday lunch but be warned book in advance as tables fill up very fast.
