Food was served still hot and in large portions. I definitely recommend a visit, but make sure you bring a very empty stomach! It was very good value for money.
Nice modern pub. Food is very good quality. Not many tables so best to book on a weekend.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch on Sunday and service was good, alas I asked for more gravy which promptly came in a milk jug but was charged 95p, shame as it spoilt a nice lunch.
Beef burger with skinny fries, no tomato or sauce.

Chicken parmigiana.
- the chicken was moist with a fantastic layer of breadcrumbs. The chicken and tomato blend had a good texture and didn't feel or taste greasy
- the chips were perfect, an amazing crunch without feeling fatty
Would visit again, the outside area is a nice touch on a sunny day
They were having renovation works and the gents loos were out of order when we went. We didn't order any food only drinks.

The UK sucks for service in bars, restaurants and even basic shops these days in general however, The bear has a good team of staff and in particular a gentleman working there who has been there for a good few years and he has single handedly restored my faith in the UK service sector. His name is Terry and if he’s working in your establishment rest assured that your facility is in good hands. He is super kind, extremely professional and an absolute top notch outstanding guy. The Bears food is also sublime, the chef must also be a legend of sorts. Burgers are top top quality! All the staff are always really friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend to anyone hungry or gasping!
DECEMBER 2023 UPDATE
Still amazing - excellent service and delicious food. They were so accommodating in getting our kids' food out early so we didn't have hangry little ones. Whoever thought to offer a melted camembert on the burgers needs a medal! ????
MARCH 2023
Had Mothers' Day lunch here with my mum. The roasts were absolutely amazing - great portion sizes, loads of gravy and everything was cooked well. The Biscoff cheesecake was to die for.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere too - nicely busy, without being absolutely packed in. Our food arrived pretty quickly. I will definitely be back and highly recommend it.
