Good Thai food in a classic pub serving various ales.
The grilled pork neck is delicious, and a treat you don’t get in many spots.
The PadThai is a little sweet for my taste, but if you like classic Thai food typically served in the UK (red green and Penang curry etc) along with a quiet pub atmosphere then you should find something to enjoy here.
So, disappointed with The Batons Arm Thai restaurant.
The vegetarian platter for starter was good but main course was something else, flavouless Pad Thai!
'More like left over mush on plate'
The service was even worse as male waiter set us in corner, away from other customers. Ignored us most night, young girl tried her best.
Drinks were late & had to remind few times!
Differently not coming here. Truly terrible experience of bais service & vegetarian meal was over cooked mess & highly priced!
I miss Thai Edge!
Warm welcome, great service, excellent thai food, historic building. We always come back when in town. Can't praise this place enough. 25 years under the same management. ????
Fantastic Thai food. Well cooked and served by a smiling waitress.
A wonderful pub with great food and atmosphere, from the outside it looks like a modest looking pub, but inside you have a beautiful Victorian wonder. Superb if travelling up from London again, it will definitely be on my list of places to go.
Seriously the best Thai food I’ve ever tasted. 6 of us went for food and all of us were so impressed. Not one complaint on food or service. We’ll definitely be back again.
4 of us had a delicious meal. It was a Wed so very quiet and lacking atmosphere. It still highly recommended
Welcome to Birmingham. Welcome to The Bartons Arms.
I usually, when visiting a pub, I take a couple of quick photos of the pub sign and walk in. At the Barton Arms I didn't know where to point my camera. There was so much to delight the eyes. The red brick building occupies a substantial space on the corner of the high street in Aston. As you look around outside, remember to look up and up again. The beauty continues well beyond its second floor.
The eye candy continues as you enter. The ceiling is high. The centre piece is the fine rounded wooden bar area. The eyes are carried to the grand staircase and sparkle as they take in the decorative percaline wall craft. To the right is a beautiful 19th century style bar. To the right is the restaurant, fashioned out of the original lounge area. The stain glass window at the far end of the restaurant is awesome.
I was sat at a table that was more accustomed to resting a pint on than a dish. The service was attentive and accurate. I felt it could have been more relaxed, smiley to bring that warmth I enjoy.
The food arrived quickly. The Bartons Arms offer great examples of Thai cuisine. Very flavoursome. At lunch time an express lunch is offered. For £10.50, you can order a starter and main. Excellent value for money. I couldn't argue about the quality of the food. I would love to see the dishes presented differently. Do away with the standard white crockery. What about some 2 tone coloured fine china. Try some variations on the presentation of the food too.
The Bartons Arms is a hidden gem in Birmingham. A pub I would happily recommend to anyone visiting our humble city. The Thai food it offers is excellent value for money. Some food and service presentation tweaks would make The Barton Arms be the Thai Restaurant of choice in Birmingham.
