We used the butcher's to get food for our short break to Arran from Glasgow. They have some interesting choices, including Sausages made with seaweed and salt, local cheeses and other local produce. The Ribeye steaks we had were priced at around £38.96 p/kilo. Pork, lamb, chicken and some fish options were available too. Oh and they sell pies too, I tried the Bridie which was packed with meat, but not so much flavour. Overall pretty good butchers and food was lovely.
The pork pies are so jam packed with meat not a drop of jelly in sight. Venison sausage are excellent, and the black pudding is a must. Even I eat it and I don't normally like it. So it must be good!!! Stocking up before we head home. Tried something new a chicken, leek and ham pie. Bliss in a pie. Definitely recommend that you give this Butchers a visit.
Forgot that Monday is not the best day of the week to look for hand made pies. Apart from that there was a selection of products available including fish. Pleasant staff and worth coming back to before we leave the island. Venison looks good and some will be travelling back with us. Purchasing using the online shop looks promising.
Camping trip to arran and called in here for some supplies. Social distancing queue was in place and only 1 person the shop at a time, staff were friendly and helpful. The slice was out of this world so tasty my only complaint was that I only picked up 4 slices. Also had the smoked bacon, fruit pudding and pork apple and black pudding links all were excellent, definitely stocking up when we return.
Popped in and tried the sausage rolls, pork pies and some cooked meat. All fantastic and the sausage rolls were so good we went back for four more the next day! Didn't buy any fresh meat but it looked appealing, fresh and was well presented. Premises is clean with parking, and they also sell a variety of condiments. Recommended!
We are at the end of our two-week stay on Arran and have had a great time. The Arran Butcher has supplied us with some fabulous meat and fish during our stay and I highly recommend using them regardless of where you are staying on the island. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful and you will always be served with a smile and enjoy what you take home to cook. Thanks for helping us enjoy a great holiday!
Called in and bought some sausage for tea. It looked so good that we ordered kebabs for a bbq later in the week. The kebabs were delicious, lamb with garlic and herb marinade. The sausage was good too and service was great.
Steak and haggis pie , oh what a delight .
Black pudding, haggis, and the seaweed and sea salt sausages, great tasting foods ????
