Best KPortal Reviews
Lovely warm welcome and comfortable atmosphere. We had lunch consisting of Pork belly and garlic mash for my husband and mushroom risotto for me. It was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend ????
The best Xmas day feast ever ! Every single course was spectacularly good. The staff are so welcoming and friendly - what a smashing bunch of folks. Price included crackers, bubbly and bottle of wine and no waiting for food to arrive. Overall we had a fabulous time and left stuffed to the gills, par excellence. Hope they do it again next year, worth every penny ????????
Terrific food! Well worth price. Service was impeccable and our dog had a couple of biscuits and a water bowl too. Thank you. Place was clean, spacious, lovely interior with beams and had decent parking.
Food 4.5/5
Had burger and chips which were very good. Their onions rings were also excellent
Price 2/5
Price was very expensive for everything. I would say about the same as London pricing, which is unexpected for a small pub in Wiltshire.
Atmosphere 3/5
The room we were dining in was extremely dark. Could do with more lights!
Value for money 3/5
Great food but a bit too expensive for what they are
Stopped here for a Sunday roast. Very good food with what must be the first ham joint I've ever had that could truly be described as "Melt-in-the-mouth." Extremely attentive service that was unusually polite and correct. Portions were large - slightly more than I wanted but would suit most modern appetites, I think - and the food was not quick to arrive. However, we were forewarned this would be the case, as every single meal is done to order and prepared with considerable care. Neither was it a problem, as I have waited longer on many occasions, in establishments that give nowhere near the attention to detail that The Angel does.
My mother hosted her 80th Birthday at The Angel. It surpassed expectations. The owners and staff were patient and kind in the run up and efficient and friendly on the big day. They put on a enormous buffet, which was greatly enjoyed by all 65 guests. Super, hidden pub terrace too for warmer days. It was excellent value for money. The Angel is a longstanding pub with several changes of ownership over the years; the most recent owners really deserve local support. I would definitely recommend this friendly welcoming country pub and we will definitely be booking a table for dinner in the near future.
Great roast dinner! We weren't sure how big the portion was going to be and were quite hungry so had bread & olive to nibble on to start. We didn't need them! The roast was huge with all the trimmings. The staff were lovely and happy to help.
I have stayed in many hotels big and small over the years, some good, some grim but the angel inn ticks all the boxes in every department especially the food. All meals are prepared from scratch, more than that they are prepared with expertise so your meal is a complete joy to eat whether it's breakfast lunch or dinner, you get the best prepared from the finest ingredients... I shitteth you not, every meal no matter what you choose is a joy to eat, prepared by someone who cares. I would return even if not staying just for the meals, I am serious on that. So if you want quality, real quality at a great price then book yourself in for lunch, dinner breakfast, or book all three you will not be disappointed, this I am certain of.
Add to that staff that are friendly and who care, you don't get that very often these days and you are on a winner.
The hotel is a 26th century coaching Inn and it still retains that with floors in the rooms that make you wobble and stairs that make you mutter, but that's all part of its charm and it can't be changes and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am told there have been guests who weren't happy with the floors and wanted the hotel to level them. We'll they can't it's a listed building that's full of charm it's warm, it's comfortable and you will want to return, unless of course you're a floor complainer then you've already got your head up your arse and can't be helped.
If you just want warmth and a great welcome then you must come, the owners work here, they are superb, they will make your stay the best ever.....iain
