Excellent modern cafe, serving excellent coffee, cakes, pastries, breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Coffee is excellently served, the various cakes and pastries are also excellent. They do breakfast but it's vegan, they also do specials, eggs benedict, pancaked, etc. The salt beef benin was very good. There's more seating upstairs which overlook the arcade alley. Probably the best coffee in Halifax town centre. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious. We were visiting Halifax for a party and happened across this place on Sunday morning before our train. What a lucky find!
Had a veggie breakfast and avocado on toast with eggs. Even the salad garnish was somehow better than what I normally had. They really raised the game. Portions were very generous.
It also sells sauces, house plants. Truly a unique place.
Staff are friendly. The only downside is that we didn’t realise at the time that there was an upstairs. Wish we sat up there because it was lovely! Hope to visit Halifax again soon, even if just for this breakfast.
An amazing place to start your day with their breakfast options or to have your evening coffee…! Temperance is a hidden gem in Halifax town centre which you HAVE to visit!
Staff are great. Food and drink is of good quality. Could be cheaper but, if you want quality you have to pay for it, especially due the tough situation both customers & the hospitality sector are currently experiencing. Would recommend the scrambled egg with smoked salmon. It was delicious.
Gorgeous little café. Very nice and relaxed atmosphere. Has a lot of art work and plants that draw your attention. The staff are friendly, and welcoming and food is absolutely delicious. I had a couple of coffees, a full English and a cake to follow. I could have stayed all day! Also feels great to be eating clean and ethically, with vegetarian and vegan options. Thank you so much! I sing your praises to all of my friends.
Have been here a couple of times now and it’s always been a great experience. Delicious coffee every time, the bloke I’ve always been served by seems really nice, genuine and not in a rush, it’s very comforting. Had a vegan breakfast and it was absolutely delish and a good decent serve (unlike lots of cafes where it feels like you just subtract the non-vegan stuff for the same price). Cute atmosphere with lots of plants (also mostly for sale) and various other tea/coffee stuffs for sale, too. Would highly recommend.
Only just started to go to Temperance, even though i've lived in Halifax for years and i wish we had come here sooner.
We usually go for a morning drink and a piece of cake and have never been disappointed, as others have mentioned, this is the best cake you can get in a coffee shop in Halifax.
There is a great vibe to Temperance which is hard to put my finger on, but it's a great place to relax.
All in all a must visit place.
