Great place to stay and eat. Nice to be in a guest house / pub where it's down to earth and run by the owners. Evening meal was perfect and drinks in the bar afterwards was relaxing and enjoyable. The room was fine, only a single room but exactly what I needed for a one night stay. Looking forward to breakfast.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I was one of five Coast-to-Coast hikers staying at the hotel and we all enjoyed our meals. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the showers were powerful and the beds were comfortable. A great place to stay.
Great customer service. Friendly staff. The room and dining area was clean and comfortable. Very tasty and hearty food for Dinner and Breakfast with big portions. Powerful and hot shower. This place really does do everything well!
Stayed here as part of the Coast to Coast. The staff were really friendly.
Would have given 5 stars, but we booked this place because it advertised a free taxi service from the path which they apparently just stopped doing.
Edit: Yes it was on Sherpa website. (and also a bit of a misunderstanding on the phone)
My wife and I spent a rainy few days here. We were made to feel very welcome by Joan and Paul, who were outstanding hosts who made sure we had everything we needed.
The home cooked food was excellent (they actually cook the Steak how you ask for it, which is a rarity in my experience) with more than generous portions.
The bed was enormous and very, very comfortable. The room was clean and well provisioned, and the shower was one of the best I've ever used, so much so that I ended up showering twice a day just to use it.
Our room was directly over the bar and you could just about make out traces of the voices and laughter from downstairs until they cleared out at around 23:00, but you certainly wouldn't describe it as noisy.
We were sad to go at the end of our stay and we'll be sure to drop by for a pint next time we're passing!
(Please note that this is a cross-post of my TripAdvisor review for the same stay).
Standard pub fare, but of a reasonably high quality for the price. Steaks were cooked perfectly, although they weren't the highest quality. Garlic and chili prawns, and the steak pie were both excellent, however. Chips are home-cooked, and extremely tasty.
Deserts were a bit underwhelming, mostly fridge/microwave stuff, as far as I could tell.
Not a huge selection of beer on tap, but those that they had were very good.
Staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful.
Probably the best place in the area at which to eat.
We really liked the Stork Hotel! It's simple and homey, but mainly it's run by really friendly, lovely people. The rooms were really cosy, warm and spotlessly clean. Also we were a group of two singles and one couple and this was a rare opportunity of a well priced and really nice single room for each.
When we walked in we found ourselves in a pub!! Woodfire, bar and regulars! A bit disconcerting at first but one of the best things about it in the end: we spent a great night chatting with everyone till late and really enjoyed it!
We had a great breakfast, full English with excellent local sausage - and lots of toast! Grateful too for the flexibility of a slightly later breakfast time due to 'cultural differences' - ie all but one are Spanish :)
Many many thanks to Paul and Joan, altogether a very positive experience!
Warm welcome awaits all guests. Lovely food, good sized twin room, quiet country location which is ideal for exploring the surrounding areas.
