Avoid this mechanic, did a rushed job of changing the car battery, charged for checking the alternator was charging parts (and it was not). Battery was flat in a few days, he said he will come and look at it, kept not coming, eventually stopped answering. After 2 weeks had to call another mechanic and turns out he had installed the wrong battery so the alternator could not charge it. Shimmy refuses to answer calls, texts, answerphone messages and has left me to pay for his mistake. Dishonest, unprofessional, poor service. Bad communication.
Really bad communication, doesn't answer the phone or reply to texts. Makes appointments and doesn't turn up. Poor repairs that you have to get redone and you lose money as he doesn't fix his mistakes. Think twice before you choose this mechanic.
This guy is a cowboy.
He was supposed to renew the Rocker Gasket. after a long while, he eventually did it. I used my car and after a week. Smoke was coming out of my engine. I found that the gasket was leaking in a few places. I contacted him. After a few days, he arrived. He informed me that he had to get Rocker cover skimmed. Three days later, he came back. Replaced it. I notice a sealing solution all around it.. I noticed that a bolt had been snapped off. I then phoned him, and his reply was that 5 had snapped, and he had to renew them. You are lucky that I never charged you. I replied that he snapped them." He then said he does not want anything to do with the car.
I then said, "I will put a review everywhere." He then came back with making up a claim that I had driven it for 2 weeks, allowing it to overheat.
That was the first I heard of that. Obviously, he was trying to cover his own back.
I then turned the car on to day to put oil in, and the engine light came on. He has broken the cam sensor. Two proper Machanics both informed me that if he broke things , then he should repair them.
Now, he does not reply.
This guy has no address. So how does one contact him for recourse?
I will eventually find him.
I will sue now.
Contacted Shimmys based on their excellent reviews, and very glad I did! Originally called about a faulty indicator, but then also required a new alternator and bonnet cable, James & Lisa kept us informed & updated about timings and costs, and all work was completed quickly, efficiently, and professionally. Excellent communication, very knowledgeable and friendly, and very happy with the service they provided. Can't recommend them highly enough, many thanks!
Car wasn't starting and Shimmy came to me, diagnosed very quickly and fixed with no problems. Well priced and came out even with the light dusting of snow everywhere

James has gone above and beyond for my Old Ford Ranger pick up! He found so much more wrong with the truck yet never complained and still kept to his original quote for all the hours he did - He would drive off and go get parts and even worked on his day off to get it finished.( But I’m insisting I pay more even though it doesn’t even touch the hours he’s put into it !) He did an amazing welding job and double checked everything else for me - He would show me what needed be done, before and after, which gave me reassurance. I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend his work to anyone!
