Really enjoyed my visit today. Food was delicous and the service very friendly! The couple who run it make a real effort with the customers - a group of about 20 Chinese visitors (who had been walking in the nearby countryside) unexpectedly arrived and were accommodated without fuss. They were particularly interested in the porchetta and appeared to enjoy it when samples were offered :)
Will certainly return if I’m in the area!
There's nothing like it !
The food speaks for itself !
Went for their signature dish - porchetta - Italian slow roasted pork
I've nothing to add to the glowing reviews except for a special mention for the lady doing front of house (I think she's one of the owners - absolute joy) she was so busy and always courteous and friendly (as was the young lady waiting on).
This morning, my companions and I had the pleasure of visiting Rider's Rest Cafe and Trattoria for the first time, completely unaware of its existence until we stumbled upon it after watching a TV program. Nestled in a picturesque old village near Bath, the cafe exudes traditional charm and is a perfect retreat for cyclists, joggers, families on a leisurely drive, or those simply exploring the quaint village landscape on foot.
Upon entering, we were greeted by a small yet cozy coffee shop with ample seating for guests. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere was palpable, thanks to the passionate owners who clearly take pride in their establishment. It felt like stepping into a community hub where everyone was engaged in lively conversations, instantly making us feel like old friends or cherished members of the community.
The food surpassed our expectations, with each dish being incredibly delicious and thoughtfully prepared. And as a coffee enthusiast, I was delighted to find that their coffee was among the best I've had recently, adding to the overall delightful experience.
Without a doubt, Rider's Rest Cafe and Trattoria has left a lasting impression on us, and we are eager to return. It's a place that truly stands out in every aspect, from its charming location to its warm and inviting ambiance, making it a special destination worth revisiting time and again.
Rode our bikes here from Bristol on the old railway line. Not usually open on Mondays but they are on bank holidays. Cafe is on a farm next to stables overlooking the horse exercise yard. They have plenty of secure bike racks and tables inside and out. Good range of snacks, coffee and meals including gluten free options and Italian food by the friendly owners.
Absolutely brilliant, small cozy, authentic Italian food, hand made pasta was delicious also cakes are excellent. Most of all having a good chat with the owners ☺️. Look out for the special roast pork - porchetta - which takes 3 days to make. Also the views are amazing! Will be back.
Visited today and we had 3 cooked breakfasts. A lovely place with great character and friendly owners. The food was delicious and the countryside setting is first class. Well worth a visit ????
Very good service cosy feeling.Came her yesterday and I had to come back for the bacon sandwiches !!!!!!!!!
We visited Rider’s Rest cafe after seeing it on Channel 5. Michelle and Mimmo are so lovely and welcoming and the cafe is very cute and cosy. We had the porchetta paninos and it was the best porchetta we have ever tasted and definitely lived up to its reputation! We will most certainly be visiting again for more porchetta and Italian coffee. Would highly recommend visiting!
