Well stocked with most essentials. The chap serving was friendly and helpful, sadly the grouchy old maid was just rude. Thought it might be a bad hair day but others said the same and our second visit was no different. This is now just an emergency store. We'll go to Truro in preference for full choice and civility.
Having read the reviews I do wonder whether this is the same shop as I went too. I found the shop well stocked with both local and ‘standard’ products. The fresh selection was good and the overall selection more than adequate for a small local shop.
They have a milk dispenser with glass bottles which is a nice touch and also a selection of cakes and pastries. I didn’t have any but they certainly looked good.
Staff were very friendly. In summary I thought it was a very good small local shop.
A great village store, an "Aladdin's Cave"!! Plenty of choice in all sections of this really well stocked shop, including local produce. Pasties are always available & can also be ordered. Very friendly, helpful owners and staff. The Post office counter is a bonus.
Great little shop in a great little village. Just shame about the miserable lady that worked there. No smile, no conversation miserable. Obviously couldn't wait for me to leave. Such a shame because the shop Obviously depends on tourism trade but didn't really want my custom. Maybe she's having a bad day ????
I feel I should write a review for this shop given that it’s a long way to the next one…
A fantastic stock of all sorts of food and drinks. A good stock of emergency spares like tools, dog food, toys and leads. A small deli selection with pasties and cakes.
Really polite helpful staff and given some of the previous reviews I was presently surprised. Far better than your average small village dusty Londis….
Thanks again.
Great shop and asset to the local community. Always so helpful and polite (even the younger staff members). The pastries and pasties are to die for, and don’t get me started on the beer selection…AMAZING!
We love this shop, they stock almost anything you might need during a self-catering holiday. The proprietors are right to keep social distancing and mask wearing in place, and they are always busy and rushed off their feet, to keep stock on the shelves. They work long hours and it’s open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The staff always have a smile and time for a bit of a chat. We are lucky to have this - it saves a long drive over to Truro and makes life so easy. In fact, I am going down to do some shopping there now!!!
We have been going to Portscatho for years and it has always been a pleasure to go to Ralph’s in the middle of Portscatho.
Once Ralph sold a couple of years ago the store we feel has gone down in our estimations and now it is a co-op there is nothing local about it anymore
We had sausage rolls today and I have to say they were the worst thing that I have ever had to eat. The pastry was rank and not sure what was in the middle but it wasn’t meat
So bad I threw them out for the seagulls and even they don’t want them
Such a shame looks like they only thing that we will be buying is a newspaper at least that is guaranteed to be ok
One very unhappy and sad customer
