Just experienced a Sunday dinner at PerryZito restaurant which is inside Smokies Hotel, what a disappointment. I chose the two course meal, vegetable soup starter was so over seasoned with pepper it was really unpleasant. The main was Pork Sunday lunch and it reminded me of a school dinner unfortunately. Very bland, Pork was tasteless, veg was watery and the few potatoes on my plate were completely tasteless. So disappointed, looks like the hotel is purely kept open now by weddings and weekend parties judging by all the empty gas canisters in the car park and discarded wine glasses and bottles of beer. Not recommended and I will not be returning, there are just too many nicer places to go to.
Booked table for 1.30 the restaurant doors were still locked on arrival. Had to go and ask how to get in finally got into an empty restaurant and waited over 10 minutes before a member of staff finally arrived. Was unapologetic hushed us to a table while she went to find keys for the door where other diners were stood outside waiting. Another 10 minutes for a waiter who gave us a light lunch Menu. We had booked for the fully advertised 2 course Sunday lunch. Asked the waiter if Sunday lunch was on, and they had to enquire in the kitchen. Who then offered chicken and said the full roast advertised was not available as they had not ordered any good due to having no bookings up front. They had only received bookings today. Obviously we had little hope for a decent meal as the staff were so unprofessional and unenthusiastic. We left and had a fab carvery meal down the road. Definitely do not recommend. Complete waste of time!

1 star is a compliment to this place. Where do I start, when we arrived we were stood at the entrance for 15 minutes before a member of staff came into the restaurant a d that was only to bring food to the only other table on there. When she eventually came over she said sit anywhere so we wemt and sat down and she went over to the bar where another member of staff was talking to her for about 5-10 minutes. We had no menus or drinks menus amd no one had come over, then the 2 staff just walk into the back kitchen after about 10 minutes, so we just stood up and left. The other table in there stated as we walked out “they’re shocking in here”. Even the manager, when we went to reception to let them know how shocking it was, was no help just kinda stared at me as I was telling him and said sorry. Never In my life have I or my partner received such awful service (both work in restaurants ourselves). With it being valentines night at 7.30pm we thought the night was ruined as we had to try get a table in Manchester somewhere, we stayed at the hotel too which was alright but we will definitely never be coming back to either of these places again.
Nice little venue. I came here for a wedding and the room was kitted out really nice. Reasonable prices at the bar and the buffet was lovely. Crazy carpet going on in the corridor to the toilets, I think this could be for staff amusement for customers that have had a skinful!
My family have been eating here for a long time, however this time was shocking.... We arrived to be informed there was a change in pricing which turned out wasn't a slight increase really it was a ridiculous increase. The cost had gone up from a family of 4 eating for around £28 to be told it was now more for adults depending on what they had and now they charge £6.50 for children meaning the cost was nearly double what it had been before. The food was terrible soup was luke warm. The carvery was dry, very limited and I ended up with rope from the meat served to me. They had very limited deserts and no ice cream for the kids. The staff were rude and did not show any form of customer service. Very disappointing and will now be going elsewhere with my family.
Went to the wedding fayre. Lovely staff very helpful. Saw people having bar food looked delicious, was sorely tempted to tuck in.
Very relaxed atmosphere, guests sitting around, TVs on but not to loud creating calm and quiet mood.
Absolutely over-rated. Terrible Service. Staff unhelpful, rude & abrupt attitudes. My friends and I booked here for New year's eve, 2018. A 4 Course Meal, with Entertainment. At a cost of £66.50, per person. Began at 7.30pm. Ended at 1am. Held in their Medlock Suite. Meal Cold & Unappetizing. Entertainment did not reflect the published Description whatsoever. We were so disappointed that we left at 11.15pm. Never again.
