Only went for food and drinks. Friendly service and our waitress was willing to go above and beyond to ensure excellent service and that every member of our table was happy. Is one of about 3 pubs / inns in the area.
On somewhat of the pricier end, but to be expected (let’s not kid ourselves with it being the lakes).
I ordered the Pennington stacker and it was large. Sides and coleslaw were generous and well cooked, complimenting the burger. All other dishes were commended by other members of the table.
Would definitely be back when returning to the area!
I stayed here while in the area for work. The staff are so lovely and the room I had was huge, with a nespresso machine and a sofa, as well as the biggest bathroom I’ve seen in a while. The bed was really comfortable. There’s a great selection of breakfast options, cooked order each morning. I had dinner in the restaurant both evenings I was there and wasn’t disappointed. The portions are big and I can recommend the sticky toffee pudding. They also make their own ice cream, which is very good indeed! I would stay here again without hesitation. The views from the hotel are lovely too. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is that my room was chilly in the mornings.
What a find! Stayed over as we planned to do the steam train next day; We loved everything about this place. Lovely and modern, scrupulously clean, very friendly staff and superb food, at extremely good value for money. Slept so soundly! Will definitely be back
Excellent small hotel. Rooms large and nicely equipped. Food excellent and hotel staff friendly and efficient . Even had its own EV charger in the car park.
We had a large room in the annex as we had our dog with us. The room was serviced each day and there was plentiful tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate and biscuits available The restaurant was light and tables well spaced. Breakfast was extremely hearty and the porridge serving is huge! Be warned. Eggs Benedict were a great start to the day and there was a good choice of " full English" items.| The bar lounge area was a good place to relax during the afternoon after a day's walking, although sometimes the TV seemed a bit unnecessary. The staff are helpful and welcoming.| Good value for money . In fact I am going back with a friend this month!
Mixed experience waited a long time to be served 20 mins for order to be taken then another 30 for food, ok but there were only 3 tables with customers. Food one dish beef special was amazing the other scampi was average with burnt chips really should have sent them back, terrible that they were even put on plate. Unlikkey, we will return.
Had a lovely stay here, staff friendly good beers and nice food especially the full English we was stuffed to the brim ???? peaceful area and a relaxing get away break ☀️????
We stayed at the inn along the road, but our breakfast was in the Pennington restaurant. Very disappointing, it was in fact almost identical to a Wether spoons standard breakfast, except wetherspoons have unlimited tea & coffee , we got one cup! My partner's eggs Benedict was atrocious, one egg, undercooked, on an uncuttable muffin, with cold sauce. For these 2 underwhelming plates, we were charged £28. Up to that point, we'd had a great weekend in the Inn ( including a lovely evening meal) so this spoilt it a bit. Need to hire a decent breakfast chef.
