Sometimes what really sets a place apart is the people. We just arrived in town and were so hungry. After walking to get some lunch we discovered it was cash only. Silly tourists that we are, we were unprepared. The very friendly guy working the counter kindly drove us to the cash machine while our food was being made.
We sat at their picnic table in the beautiful sunny day and enjoyed our piping hot meal. The large is very big so I brought 1/2 of mine home to have later.
The food and service at Ossies is great and there are a lot of non-standard options for a chippy. Things like calamari and sweet potato fries are on the menu. They forgot a burger with a large order I requested once but rectified it quickly and delivered by hand quickly with a bottle of coke as a gesture which was nice. Our regular chippy now.
What can I say, out of all fish and chips shops I have been too, nothing compares like Ossie's. Everything I have had is freshly prepared to order. Quality couldn't be better! The staff are very friendly and chatty and know how to have a laugh which is an added bonus. Fast and efficient service. I will continuously be using Ossie's as my regular fish and chip shop.

Just visiting friends we are from Chesterfield.
It's a small fish and chip shop , loads of free parking around shop.
We had saveloys and chips. The large chips for £3.50 is enough for 4 .
The staff are friendly and the chips was lovely. Although they had a queue they really worked to serve everybody very quickly.
The chips were delicious. Saveloys are saveloys taste the same everywhere
Next visit next year we will try the fish.
Beware tho they only take cash . My kind of place . Keep cash alive
Ordered skate that stunk of amonia, totally inedible, stunk the whole house out. Don't ever order from tthis shop!!!
This is the 1st time I had tried Ossies, and received great service-very friendly staff and lovely freshly cooked food order. Clean oil, great tasting food, just a touch expensive, but I'd rather pay a little more to get great quality AND quantity ????

Great quality tasty take away. Superb fish and chips. Battered sausage and the battered mushrooms are well worth a try. Good menu range if you wanted something other than fish and chips. Good value for money with generous portions. Our order was freshly cooked. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Definitely be coming back. Just a note, they only take cash, no card payments.
