A lovely friendly cafe, with lots of character. We had cake and coffee, which was delicious. They also do meals. It is a great location, especially for a ferroequinologist or more commonly known as a person who studies trains for a hobby. As the steam trains run past it. The staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend it. Also, there is a nice walk that follows the railway for a bit, then cuts through a really nice wooded area and returns to the village.
A wonderful coffee shop with a friendly and cosy atmosphere. The food is fantastic and the entire space is beautiful with lots of interesting pictures and artefacts.
Stumbled Cross this place by accident! Called in for a cup of tea and this is a delightful little cafe in a former school house.
Good selection of drinks plus cakes and food. If the weather is decent you can sit outside and watch the trains go by!
It's definitely a nice place to call in and is well run with friendly people! It's also dog friendly.
The wonderful staff here delivered a delicious Goats cheese Soufle.
Definitely worth visiting.
Now called Barking Terrier Bakery. We love this place! The food is delicious, from the bread used for sandwiches to the amazing cakes it's all excellent quality. The staff are very friendly too. We love coming as the kids love watching out for steam trains as we eat. In between the trains it's really peaceful too, it's lovely just sitting outside and listening to thd birdsong. It's a dog friendly place for anyone out walking with their furry friends. It's one of our favourite places and we'll definitely be back again.
Edit: We returned today and had another wonderful lunch. The menu isn't over sized but there is still a good selection of items, especially things that are a little different to the norm that you might find at a tea room (today we had belly pork flatbread which was devine). The cakes not only look amazing but taste delicious too. My only disappointment is that we weren't there early enough today for me to get one of the most delicious curd tarts. Despite being pretty busy today, we only waited about 10 minutes at most for our food, which was prepared fresh.
This is a lovely cafe which serves tasty coffee in beautiful surroundings. Whether you’re sitting inside the old school room or out in the garden area, the atmosphere is pleasant with the opportunity to see a steam train passing on the nearby railway.
I’d recommend parking in Goathland and walking to Grosmont (along the old rail trail) and rewarding yourself with a coffee and cake upon arrival.
Situated overlooking the railway line, so you get a view of the Steam train ,"Santa Express".
We had breakfast and a coffee a couple of times and we were very pleased.
The owners made us very welcome and were good conversation.
Nice and warm due to the wood burner.
Stopped to the Old School coffee shop after a 13 km picturesque walk around Grosmont. Great location, friendly staff and such great food! We had soup of the day which was brought out to us by the chef and I have got to say it was next level! Highly recommend the place! ????
