My wife purchased haddock and chips takeaway. On returning to our vehicle we unwrapped the food and I immediately noticed that the haddock was a distinctive pink colour and not white. The chips were dry and not particularly hot. I returned the food to the counter and was informed that that was the normal appearance of the pink haddock. The lady behind the counter offered to fry a fresh piece of fish but my appetite had gone and I left the food on the counter. This was the worst fish and chips I have ever tried.
My first time at Ocean, I had large cod and chips and my wife had a leg of chicken. Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had for years, the batter was just right and the cod was really good, chips were also 10/10.
Wow! My wife loved her chicken too. I will be going back for more. Highly recommend you try it.
Portion size suddenly got a lot smaller. Used to get a fillet and ‘a bit’ when ordering a large cod - the bit wasn’t included last time!!
Still good quality, but will have to consider the vfm going forwards.
Really lovely food.
In the past it's been bland and oily. I would avoid at all costs but needed something quick after a long day.
But this time it was great, large portions fresh crisp fish will certainly be back this time!
Good variety in the menu, great finish and chips
My fiancé and I was staying a couple nights in the town and wanted something quick to grab as it was a long day.
Got a large chips, battered sausage and scampi & curry sauce.
Portion size wasn’t too bad. Not many chips for a large if I’m honest.
Chips weren’t the best I’ve had a little dry.
Sausage & scampi was nice but the curry sauce was like a oil drink.
Wouldn’t rush back.

Very poor, we used to live in Thaxted and went here a lot we was passing through last week and decided to pick up a fish and chip supper. What has happened has it changed hands?, poor quality food and ridiculously expensive. £50 for 2 adults and 2 children is disgraceful.
What has happened? Has it changed owners? Used to be the best fish n chips for miles. We would drive from Saffron Walden for it. But never again, tonight it was terrible!! So greasy, not crispy at all, worst ever!!
