The grounds are amazing during every season, but at this time of the year is the most gorgeous thanks to the bluebell field and all the blooming trees. I could spend hours just sitting around in the woods looking at the bluebells and listening to the birds.
Just back from our three night stay. Had an absolutely lovely 60th birthday with my amazing family. A very well equipped house with a great peaceful location. Very clean and well presented with lovely cosy beds. Everything was provided, huge freezer and three fridges, loved the double ovens too. Great games room for the kids, chill out area. I would totally recommend and will definitely return.
We stayed here with extended family over the Christmas period and what a perfect house as well as location for such a wonderful time of year.||The house is a big house even though it doesn’t really look that big from the outside. The kitchen isn’t massive but there is a second kitchen in another ‘wing’ of the house. The dining area however is very long and plenty big enough for everybody staying. Most rooms have en-suite and the doubles are excellent in size. The single rooms are obviously smaller but still a decent size. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean.||The living room is very cosy with a gorgeous log burning fire with plenty of wood provided stored outside. The TV is a smart TV so you can get Netflix and catch up using the house WIFI. It isn’t the quickest internet connection but given you’re in a rural location it’s plenty quick enough. Mobile coverage is limited.||There’s a lovely pub down the road next to the little steam railway and some lovely walks in the vicinity. Muncaster Castle is also within walking distance.||Now, the real thing that made this so special. The effort that was put in by the owners to make it feel so magical. The house was not only decorated for Christmas with various festive items hung up but the tree had fake presents just to really top it off. There was also a welcome basket with mince pies, fudge and loads of other goodies. They’d even lit the fire for our arrival.||This place was so good we’ve booked this place for New Year!
Haven't been inside, but the building looks very old. The cemetery around this church, great place for a walk for people who like the places like this
Lancaster castle is a gem. The castle is in a wonderful setting. The gardens are beautiful. The bird of prey displays are fabulous. Good cafes too. Well worth visiting. We've been going for a few years now and have a great day every time we go.
Our rooms (2 adults plus 2 children - own rooms) were clean, well ventilated, quiet. Large common kitchen access. Puts you on site to choose prime times for tours, walk abouts, raptor/bird shows (highly recommend!) - and our favorite of being able walk the grounds in evening after the site is closed to public - gorgeous and peaceful. We'd go back for sure.
Excellent stay, great proximity to the castle which has fantastic grounds to explore (including an enchanted fairy walk and a maze).||Seascale is worth a visit from here, a nice beach and excellent kids play area. Nearest co-op is also in Seascale.||All the rooms are good size, and the property is well equipped.||There are plenty of walks nearby (flat walks - some without styles for the older folk & close to the hills for the more adventurous)||It has WiFi (but there is no phone signal).
We have just left this beautiful guest house after a stay over Christmas with family for one week! It had absolutely everything you needed. The bedrooms were very clean and we were spoilt for choice as there were 10 of us and so many rooms. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner for 10. The living area was a great chill out space with a roaring fire to keep us warm and the house was decorated for Christmas and these small touches were much appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Would highly recommend this place!
