Best KPortal Reviews
This was my first visit after it had been totally refurbished and I have to say the pub looks amazing! No expense has been spared on the renovations and fittings, it really has a 5 star look. The landlord was welcoming and chatty but the place lacked some atmosphere as there were only a few people in but this is what the Sam Smith pubs are striving for, moving away from electronic distractions and back to good old conversation. There was even a sign behind the bar with a large red cross through mobile phones, I did joke when I went to get a round in that as phones were banned then I couldn't pay for my drinks, obviously there was an exception made. I bet what they are trying to achieve but I think times have moved on and the mindset of Sam Smith should move with it, maybe not to the extent that a lot of pubs have but this may attract more clientele in.
Over all I enjoyed my visit and will go back, it just won't be my regular.
The former home of Titus Salt (Saltire fame)
A Sam Smith's public house that's been beautifully renovated in keeping with the buildings history and past.
The public rooms are decorated immaculately and memorabilia of the Great man and the area are on display.
New seating fabric throughout all the inglenook rooms.
The Bar and main room is the centre piece with a roaring fire (perfect).
The Bar is well stocked and easy to access
Staff polite and friendly.
The Manor Inn outside has been cleaned up on the building and the garden plain and simple yet practical is in keeping with the Inn.
On entering the Inn the solid (oak?) door is beautifully made and fits the Inn like a glove.
The Inn has been closed for quite a few years , but the transformation and the skill used by the builders and renovator's is highly commendable.
Because the Inn has just reopened I was not sure about food being served just yet.
There is a car park here but did not use it as I was on a walk in this beautiful area.
Terrific job with the refurbishment. Lovely wallpaper, tasteful colour palattes and lighting make this a new go-to destination one our trips out. When the outdoor area is done it will be perfect.
Lovely little pub, refurbished very well with a couple of small cosy spaces, in addition to the main larger ones. Great staff, it would be lovely to see the temporary landlady stay long term as she was very welcoming. It's a Sam Smith's pub so you do have to factor in their standard rules - no phones, no swearing, no children etc. In a village with a huge number of families, it would be great if they allowed well behaved children inside at certain times of the day (and tightly controlled this), but it is what it is. You can also only get Sam Smith's drinks which are a bit marmite to people (either like or dislike them). It would be fantastic if they could get some guest beers or spirits in addition to the standards.
I would recommend people calling in though, as it is a lovely place.
Still closed but the refurbishment looks like it is coming on nicely.
Looking forward to it reopening.
Although they have done a great job renovating this pub, because there are lots of smaller rooms there really is no atmosphere.
Lovely pub. Done the place up really nice good atmosphere.
My wife and I enjoyed the stop off, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, will be back ????
