Been meaning to visit Maddison’s for a while. Didn’t book in advance and went on a Monday late morning and got the last table. We sat in the Snug which was a nice little hideaway from the rest of the coffee shop, but it was far from snug..it was very cold and we kept our coats on. Menu is varied, everything from breakfasts to baked potatoes, waffles, crepes… good choice of delicious looking fresh baked slices too. Lots of drinks and delicious coffees to choose from too. Two of our meals came out together but we waited for the final meal a bit too long. The waitress noticed and chased it up by which time we had mostly ate our food as it was getting cold fast due to the draught in the room. Food was really nice (though katsu was very very spicy and isn’t meant to be). Hot chocolate was epic! Prices are reasonable.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful, cannot fault them one bit. They were very apologetic about the cold in the snug, the delay on food and the lack of hand towels in the toilet. (So you can’t dry your hands). Will try this place again as the tray baked (in photo) looked amazing.
If you’re driving, there is a big car park 5 minutes away or a retail park further down the hill with plenty of spaces.
Lovely eatery with really friendly and helpful staff. A varied and reasonably priced menu to suit all tastes and palates. A good choice of coffee, tea, and soft drinks to accompany the excellent food.
Really nice food, staff and atmos. Went for full English. Very impressed with good quality bacon. Also pleasantly surprised it's bigger than it looks from the outside.
Love coming here. Staff are always friendly and welcoming from the moment you step foot through the door. Great menu and the food and drinks are lovely. Best coffee I’ve had. Must try the omelette !!!
Toast was lovely. Doorstep slices served hot with lurpak you butter yourself. Nice place.
We were in Consett and decided to get lunch there. Was directed to Madison's by a local butcher.... really glad we went. The cafe was busy but they had additional room that you can't see from the road, so don't be put off. Menu was traditional cafe stuff, but well cooked and presented. Staff were very good and service was great. Coffee was excellent.
Food was very nice, a good selection of options. service was good. Some items on the menu were sold out so be there early to avoid any disappointment.
This is a lovely place to eat lots of different choices and nice atmosphere. It was very busy when we went so that speaks for itself and toilet was spotless although their was no handwash. Would highly recommend.
