After 2 years struggling with my Divorce, I changed solicitor firm and was fortunate enough Simi was recommended to me. The team at MacKenzie and Co were professional, empathetic and swiftly moved to understand my personal situation, take over from the other solicitor, and power forward to understand my case. Simi supported each part of the journey with full understand and compassion and integrity. Laura has a kind soft gentleness that assisted me while attending the court hearings. I had been at rock bottom trying to escape a NPD ex, I was under financial and coercive control, I felt I had no where to turn after the first 2 year battle. Although it felt wrong to change solicitors, it certainly was completely the right thing to do, and I am thankful I did make that change over to MacKenzie and Co. Due to lack of court date availability and judges, and the legal system being so out of date, and not strong enough with tight protocol, it did take a further 2 years. This is no reflection on MacKenzie and Co, as they pushed each time for earlier court dates, and resolution throughout the 2 years. It was exhausting for it to take so long, I have not met many people who's DV took 4 years. Had I chosen Simi from the get-go I know it would have only been a 2 year process. Finally it began to feel lighter and lighter, and less baggage carried each month that passed by, as MacKenzie and co dealt with, and started to compile masses of unnecessary complex communication, financial information and time line paperwork from my ex. Navigation of Family Court and law is not easy to understand, nor does the court have strong protocol, and this seriously needs to be updated and changed to become a simple and more strict process, especially in financial and coercive control, this being a new law since 2015. Judges and family court are not up to scratch with navigating these issues. This is a change needed from a higher level that law firms, while solicitor firms are having to push and pull and navigate an very old system, I hope to write to the courts and powers above to address how this affected me and so many others. Had I not had such a strong, powerful, knowledgeable team behind me at MacKenzie and Co, I doubt I would have come out the other end of this! Mr Mehta has been my solicitor for many years and he’s always been on top of my cases from getting my dog back to fighting for my driving license in court. This review is for the most recent case which was last week where we appealed to the Crown Court against a conviction which would’ve led me to a 2 to 3 year driving ban, a fine and also a community order. Mr Metha and his team (Jack) made such a good defence in court and found a breach in the officers ways of dealing with me which led to my case being thrown out of court and I Won my crown court appeal!!! I’m so happy/ shocked and pleased with this outcome!! Thank you very much and I genuinely would recommend this firm for dealing with criminal matters and other legal matters, All my cases whether it be a minor or something serious have all been dealt with with the same energy and efficiency and there’s always the care for the clients needs.
