We popped in for the first time today instead of the white horse cafe in Thirsk centre which has been our usual go to as we did not know of your existence. The food we were served was of much better quality, and not greasy unlike the white horse fish & chip shop.
Chips were perfectly cooked with a nice colouring to them and not anemic looking like other places, battered sausage was piping hot with a lovely crispy coating, and the fish cakes were 10/10 ???????? plus the salt and vinegar was out on the counter… as again some places keep it behind the counter and won’t let you put your own on which I hate. If there was one thing I was to nit pick over it would be the amount of chips given in the portion size… another good handful would have been spot on.
All in all though I’m still giving a 10/10 and definitely our new chippy when we are in the area. ????????????????

Beautiful delicate and big piece of fish. Crispy delicious batter. Not at all greasy and excellent chips to go with it.
Price was good, the shop was immaculately clean, staff/owners were friendly and efficient, plenty of parking out front.
Went there on Friday on my way to Pickering had fishcake and chips wow really lovely proper old school chip shop also a poor customer dropped his fish and chips outside the shop and the owner gave him a free fish and chips as a replacement definitely will be going back when passing 5 stars all day long thank you
