Had a really nice experience for "muscle madness" on a Tuesday and it was well worth the price! Loads of muscles and wonderful flavours, would recomend the basil and chorizo muscles! The fresh bread that came with it was lovely and the waiter was incredibly attentive (it wasn't very busy, so that may be why). All in all a great evening out.
Really not good at all. It's the 3rd time for me at Loch Fyne (this was a big family lunch so I didn't have a choice).
Firstly they came with a long list of what they didn't have. Including the muscles and said its because they try and source in the UK and its not seasonal.
Then we were told there were only 2 tuna steaks left and 3 of us wanted them. So I ordered cod. Then they arrived with 3 tuna steaks. It was all a bit odd. My neice ordered a side sauce for her dish and it didn't come for about 20 minutes until we asked again for it.
It cost a couple of hundred for the 12 of us. Not good value.
Had the fixed menu of which half the mains were unavailable (salmon and mackerel). Only fish dish was prawns, no fish in a fish restaurant? Service very slow took an hour to get starter. Fish soup was pretty poor. Another 45 mins for main course. That left the sweet of which 1 was unavailable. And another 30 mins. The restaurant was virtually empty. Can't blame the waiter, he was a bit embarrassed. Definitely won't be returning.
Service was very good though not surprising, considering restaurant was more than half empty.
Fish soup extremely disappointing, in fact the worst we've had anywhere. It was so watery it was more like fish stock.
Main course of Seafood Grill was good though Grilled Salmon, although tasty, was a bit dry and overcooked.
Dessert, Vanilla Cheesecake with Chocolate topping, also disappointing. It was presented in a Kilner jar! What's that all about? Just emphasises centralised production with little input by restaurant 'chefs'.
Overall, rather overpriced for what it purports to be.
Expensive food that didn't live up to its promise. Undercooked hard new potatoes, dry, overcooked mussels, soggy fish batter and bought-in treacle tart. Service ok, but a little casual. Used to be a good bet for reasonably priced nice seafood. No longer.
Now permanently closed.
This place is amazing, great atmosphere, lovely staff that provides you with proper service and the food is outstanding! If you love fish the way I do, visit this restaurant and undergo a superb experience! Good value for money, informal but professional waiting staff, overall a very pleasant evening out for a fair price indeed!
Only reason this isn't a zero is because there was no argument about not paying.
Requires a complete change of management as none of the staff know the minimum basic standards to which they should adhere.
Much of the menu was missing, nothing was clean, order was delivered incomplete, no finger bowl with mussels or indeed a container for shells, not very pleasant mussels, no bread, prawns chewy and miserly, battered fish literally had a puddle of oil on top, lemon sole was full of water and so salty and peppery it felt like eating acid.
Our waiter clearly had no faith in his kitchen.
Avoid at all costs.
Awful food slow service. The seafood grill was disgusting. The salmon and brien was burnt.the scallops were over cooked and the muscles were dry and stuck to the shell. Meal arrived cold. Told the waiter that we will not be back not would we recommend it to any one.
