We arrived a few minutes after the kitchen closed and still the chef was so kind to allow us to have dinner there. We got a venison dish and a sirloin steak and both the meat and the sides were generous portions and delicious. The waitress was so cheerful and welcoming too and the place was clean and cozy. Loved it there, thank you very much!
The food was amazing. We had a number of different starters but the best was the Haggis in phyllo pastry. For mains, I had the lamb shank and can say it was one of the best lamb I’ve had in a long time. All mains were delicious. You must end the night with the banoffee pavlova, it’s to die for. Thanks Cara, our fantastic server for an awesome night.
An absolutely wonderful restaurant that warms your belly, heart and will make you happy about being alive and in the heart of Scotland. The quality-price relation is excellent, the dishes are flavourful, hearthy and the attention is lovely. The owner clearly loves his work and keeping the great quality and standard of it. Delicious, generous, and absolutely worth a visit.

Our local B&B host recommended this place and she was spot on. The owner was short-handed that night since it was on the shoulder season, but amazingly, his service was faster than any other restaurant we'd eaten at on our two-week journey across Scotland. There were four of us, and every meal was spectacular! I highly recommend, but be aware, Cash only, there is an ATM across the street. Well worth the minor inconvenience.
My partner and I very much enjoyed dinner at Letterbox. There were so many lovely sounding dishes to choose from and our meals were so tasty!

I had an incredible dining experience at The Letterbox Restaurant in Newtonmore. The variety of starters, mains, and desserts left me thoroughly impressed. Not only was the food delicious, but the prices were also reasonable, and they catered exceptionally well to both vegetarians and vegans. Despite having only one staff member handling the front of house, she managed to run a tight ship while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Her efficiency and unwavering politeness were truly commendable. The impeccable dishes had us cleaning our plates, and I highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking a delightful meal with friends or family. It's an absolute must-visit!
Lovely little restaurant with typical Scottish dishes, and more refined than the usual. Very often portion sizes at restaurants are a bit too big for our liking - here they were perfect! We were able to really enjoy all three courses in their entirety. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and even took the time to have a chat and a joke with us, despite being busy, taking care of the place on his own.
Tip: you might have to pay cash - there is an ATM right across the street.
