We were traveling in the local area and after a long drive we were all craving a good fish and chips.
Lens was the most local shop to us and seem like a proper old school no nonsense kind of chippy.
The staff amd other peoplr waitimg were friendly amf approachable and the food was prepared very quickly - would recommend to anyone looking for a fish and chip place in the area!
Moved to the area in the summer and everytime we walk past Len’s to food smells divine. We have finally got around to having a fish and chips tea. And what can I say. Great service and beautiful food!! The chips were just absolutely gorgeous. Well in fact all of it was I couldn’t fault our meals at all! Highly recommend.
The fish and chips I had were excellent. Quality of the fish was exceptional and you could tell the chips were freshly cooked. The fish was battered to perfection, and the fish was white and fluffy. Delicious food. Highly recommended.
Awful place, food choice is as limited as the verbal skills of the old couple who presumably own it. The opening times are so hit and miss I'm surprised they're still in business, unless it's a front for something else maybe. As for the very expensive they either ask for the absolute thinnest pieces of white fish available or they do it themselves. What I know with absolute certainty is we'll NEVER go again
I've been here twice now. Based on the first visit I would have given them 5 stars. Based on the second just 3, or maybe even 2. First visit yielded perfectly cooked fish with crispy, light, non-greasy batter and good, chunky chips. Second visit yielded food with altogether too many tiny bits in the chips and the fish, while a good piece of cod, had been cooked at too low a temperature so the batter was flat, stodgy and greasy.
I'll still go back in the hope of repeating the first experience - the good was very, very good.
I absolutely hate leaving negative reviews but I feel this justifies. I have always loved the food here but as for the staff… OMG ???? I have never met such rude, arrogant people seriously! I understand No one likes having to work but come on! No hello, please thank you. woman behind counter who served me looked at me chewing her gum (mouth open chewing) ???? never even spoke one word throughout. She threw my stuff in a bag and that was it. They truly make you feel so uncomfortable being there like they are so overworked, I mean it’s only open 3 hours of an evening I honestly dread to think what they would be like if they had to work a full day! ????
Best Fish & Chips in the world.
Excellent chippy we got 3 chippy were I live but lens beats every time look forward to a Friday for my chippy tea grandson loves Lens best chippy lovely chips it like the old times you get it in chip paper not trays I think they taste a lot better this ways thank you LENS keep up the good work 100%recommend to anyone
