I came from London fenchurch st by train and bicycle to Rayleigh and came across this place, I was absolutely taken with the dish of paccheri pasta with courgettes and prawns this is the cooking you would find in a family restaurant in Italy it’s honest, I met the family and thanked them for giving me a taste of Italy , I will surely return, thanks to all at l’ancora
I was visiting the UK and went to this restaurant with my UK family. We were greeted at the door very courteously and taken to our reserved table. The service was great with our drink and starter orders taken quickly . We were all very pleased with the portion size of our starters along with how delicious they were. We were also very impressed with our main meals as they were all rich with taste and the portions were perfect.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and it is certainly worth a 5 star rating!!!!
What a fantastic place. I went there with the wife on Thursday and was so impressed by both the food and the friendly service that was on point. The recommendations on wine and dishes from the waiter were great and combined really well. The home made pasta is a notch above other places. Definitely my new favourite Italian.
The restaurant has been refurbished well and is nice and spacious so you don't feel like you're dining with neighbouring table.
The wine menu has a great choice. We opted for the Montepulciano and we not disappointed.
The food menu offers a great choice of authentic Italian food. We chose the garlic prawns and the sardines for starters. Both were great. We both opted
for risotto for our main. It was nice, but not amazing and we felt that the portions were too big.
The service is fabulous and cannot be faulted. Service is not added to the bill, so a tip is definitely in order; however it should be noted that they do not have electronic tips set up yet so you would need to take some cash.
All in all, a really good restaurant and a great addition to Rayleigh. We would certainty go back.
Had L'Ancora booked for a birthday party this week and everyone loved the delicious food, the amazing presentation and the massive efforts put by the whole family from the inside kitchen to front of the restaurant, everything was just perfect. The lovely couple in the kitchen (the owners) amazed us with the variety of wonderful dishes and many trays of finely cooked Italian food they had prepared for us. They also serve a good selection of Italian wines and beers.
We'll definitely be back at L'Ancora soon.
12 in our group, and we all thought the food was lovely and a great atmosphere at a reasonable price. It's not too noisy so we could all talk without shouting. The staff were excellent and helpful. Would certainly go back.
Fantastic food and atmosphere, the service was excellent. Thank you for an amazing evening. This is an authentic Italian restaurant run by a family from
Naples. Having visited Italy many times, the food was just as good as being in Italy. We will definitely be returning soon.
Our first visit to this new restaurant. It was a busy Saturday evening and it was full. The food was fine, big portions, but the service needs to be far more proactive (maybe some extra wait staff on busy evenings would be an idea). No arrival drinks were offered and we had to catch the eye of the waiters for absolutely everything, even the card machine to eventually pay the bill. The lights are very bright so more like a cafe atmosphere than a restaurant. Pleasant evening but the service was definitely lacking, I hope it improves as it really put me off.
