Great place to visit. Free of charge with plenty to entertain the whole family. Didn't use the cafe so can't comment. Plenty of picnic tables outside & ample parking although being a wet day it was busy. Good play area & adequate toilet facilities.
What a brilliant place this is, free parking and free entry with lots of local history, there is a Museum, Pavilion, walled gardens and plenty of benches to picnic on ohh and one other thing is that they have set up a really decent children’s play area. Fantastic.
Lovely place to visit, great for kids too, with incredibly friendly staff, a quite nice gift shops, and set in some lovely grounds. There's a cafe on site and a playground, with lots of history to see.
It's definitely worthwhile and free entry too!
Wow so interesting and free! Lots to learn well worth a few hours to look round
Been a while since I last visited - really enjoyed the 100 years of fashion exhibition. The additional displays on local history are really interesting from Gertrude Bell to the steel mills and the saxon princess. Plus a lovely coffee at the cafe.
Fee entry, free parking, lovely cafes and walled gardens, the only thing that we had to pay for was the owl centre, but even that was value for money and very interesting, and the narrator was very skilled and knowledgeable about all the birds of pray and the animals in his care. An excellent day out.
A great place for a day/half day out with the family.
First of all, it’s free - even the car parking.
The kids play park is big and has lots of variety. Much of it is quite new.
The museum is educational and focuses on local history.
There’s a short woodland walk which is accessible all year round.
The walled garden is the only attraction that charges. We were lucky enough for it to be free when we visited as the Xmas market was on. The gardens are well kept and nice to explore.
The cafe is well priced and the Scones with Jam and Cream are to die for.
Great museum and grounds. Parking is ok. Wooded area for walks. And a play park for the kids. It also has a cafe with some very nice cakes.
