A nice comfortable pub , nicely decorated. 3 seating areas. A nice range of ales. I cannot comment on the food. As it's not always available. The current staff are really good, friendly and knowledgeable. I've gone here for many years over its various transitions.
Very nice and welcoming but no food be careful ! We saw the menu and came for that... too bad. But very nice.
Lovely old tavern, bit of querk and old map of Newbury across the ceiling. Bar wrapped on 3 sides, friendly staff and comfy seats.

A very nice cosy place to go to and it's near the train station. They have, certainly for the Belgians, Leffe beer! Other beers are great too ;-) ! Very friendly personnel behind the bar and very helpful. Nice alround music and you don't need to shout to each other to understand what you're saying. I will certainly come back to visit this taverne to try out the food! 5 stars earned for sure!
Went back today on friday 31st of August. Ate a hamburger and... It was wonderful! Good price quality balance and more than enough. Got some great explanation about the food and again very friendly staff. I'd give this place a 5+ if I could!
A friendly pub, with 7 pumps of cask ale, which change frequently. It is situated very close to the railway station, so always a good shout for a final one before train.
We went for a family meal the other week and the waitress overheard that it was someone's birthday in our group and brought out a dessert with a candle in it without even being asked!! The food was lovely and all homemade. The beers and wines are really nice and the staff are so friendly. A great pub for eating and/or drinking - my fave in Newbury.
Consistently the best pub in Newbury for beer.
Update. Been a while since I've been there, but glad I visited. Some very interesting beers, well looked after and the barman knew his stuff
