I recently had the unfortunate experience of taking my partner's car to this garage for its MOT, sadly with regrets. The decision to choose this garage was primarily based on its proximity to our home, but the convenience turned out to be overshadowed by several issues that left us quite dissatisfied.
To begin with, the car was failed on what seemed like a myriad of small issues, including parts that had been replaced only a couple of years ago. The real disappointment came when we were told how much it would cost, a staggering nearly £500 for the entire process.
In retrospect, we should have taken the car back to the usual garage, and I urge anyone considering their services to be well-informed and to shop around, as it appears that their focus is on short-term gains rather than fostering long-term customer satisfaction.
Had an MOT here - had to get new tires, all of which Chris got sorted very quickly. Great.
I live less than half a mile from their garage and after the MOT went away on holiday. On returning, I found that one of the new tyres had gone flat while I was away. Took it back and was charged in full for another new tyre to replace it.
Here's my negatives:
- I drove less than half a mile and was supposed to have had a puncture of the new tyre en route. I don't believe that I could be so unlucky, more likely it was a faulty new tyre. Showing me a video of the tyre supplier finding a rim puncture doesn't alter the likelihood that the puncture wasn't when I was driving.
- I was told in response that I had driven 8 miles after the MOT. I hadn't (and can prove that the car was stationary outside my house). A more likely story was that a) Chris/Dave had driven it to get the MOT and b) to sort the tyres.
- When I challenged, saying that I hadn't driven the car 8 miles, I was given a response "when you get to your age you forget ...".
- Expected at least an offer to split the cost between us.
Shame - the MOT the previous year was good.
Such amazing customer Service, I had my MOT done by Kingston Autos today and was very happy with everything from how professional they was and how eager they was to help me and answer any questions I had with such ease. I am a new driver so need all the advise I can get and after leaving their Garage today I feel all clued up. Also being a new driver I did not fully know how to check my engine oil and they showed me how to do it but lol engine oil was bone dry ???????? they filled it all the way up for me with no extra charge. Y’all are the best, you have a new customer for life❤️????
Great service for a decent price around this area.
I was blown away with the service at Kensington Autos. The guys managed to fit a REALLY last minute MOT in and I was seriously impressed by their ‘no bull’ and fair attitude/approach. They say that their honesty is the reason why they have so many customers return and I can completely see why. I’ll definitely be going back to them.
Sending my Audi there this Thursday.
But speaking with loads of other mechanics for advise etc. No one showed interest.
Only place that took the time to discuss some stuff with me. Wish I got the guys name. He was very helpful. And On that basis I’ll be taking my business there. Thanks

I bought a used car the best I could afford and after being ripped off by the dealer and quoted by one garage over four grand to make it work and safe I was just about to throw the towel in until Kensington Autos not only saved the day but restored my faith in genuine,honest and decent people who not only take pride in their workmanship but also put themselves in the customers shoes and understand that we all work hard for our money and do the best we can.
Dave and Chris are old skoool they make Terminator look slack! these guys dont give up until the job is complete and above all safe and legal.
Even fashioning parts that had been damaged beyond repair to keep the costs down for me .
I seriously cant thank you guys enough Chris all the time you kindly showed me what needed to be done and how it could be resolved was an education .
If this review had a 10 star option you would have it trust me!

Totally trust the guys here! Dave & Chris they do the job good, know what they are doing and don't rip you off! I have been using them for at least 4 years plus. I had a problem with a fuse that kept blowing, I tried a few other places from top end and no one manged to find the fault and just put it down to the fuse or battery and all they did was replace it and before you know it a few months in it would go again. I walked into this place as i had broken down at home and asked Chris if he could help order this fuse and he did just like that. He then said if i bring my car over he can look at it as there has to be a reason that it keeps blowing. So i took my car to Ken Auto... 4 years later and that fuse has not blown! he fixed the problem.
Both Chris/Dave are very good and Dave is especially highly skilled, very impressive. I would defo recommend them, worth a visit. Just had my car serviced and been using this place for more than 4 years.
