Service was slow but possibly due to an unexpected coach party. Food seemed expensive for what it was, though the GF ham sandwich was made specially for me and was tasty, with an enjoyable side salad. The bread both looked and had the texture of a standard Chorley Wood process wheat-based sliced loaf. I was however assured it was completely gluten free. (Sorry, we were in a rush so no photo of the sandwich, but menu pics included)
Last Sunday we experienced the worst Sunday lunches ever. These were the single most appalling excuses for a roast dinner we have ever seen or tasted. We really should have taken them back but were travelling and had to eat. The photos will show a chicken breast, boiled I think accompanied by frozen beans, boiled potatoes, cabbage and carrots. There were a couple of potatoes pretending to be roasties and not succeeding. To be absolutely fair the boiled potatoes and stuffing were acceptable but look at the water on the plate that is supposed to be gravy! Awful!
To add insult to injury, as well as this terrible meal you have to sit in a gale force wind which gets worse every time the automatic doors open. There is no escape, we tried three different tables and the wind was everywhere.
This place is not fit to eat in comfort and the Sunday lunch is not fit for sale. I will never eat here again and if this is how Coed Y Dinas treats customers I wonder if I will bother shopping here at all in future.
Realy good value for money.
Well cooked fresh food.
Find a table with a menu and table number pick what you fancy and order at the counter. The food is then delivered piping hot to your table.
We had the Steak & Ale pie with new potatoes which was delicious but there is a wide choice of food and cakes to die for.
Well worth a divert from your journey. It's a yes from me.
Lovely hot food, very friendly staff. My only negative is it is never very warm here, I appreciate it is difficult in the type of building and with lots of doors, but would make it much more pleasant if this could be overcome. Otherwise a great experience.
It used to be great 10 years ago. These days they simply don’t have systems in place to manage the amount of people. Long wait for food, tables don’t get cleared, bad customer experience few healthy choices for kids.
You’re very rushed at the counter to choose your food, you have to fight for a table before ordering, and some tables don’t have menus so you have to frantically pick your food at the counter with a giant queue behind you.
The staff are obviously working incredibly hard and are under pressure. It’s clearly just very badly managed and they don’t seem to be reinvesting in customer experience.
Such a shame for how popular it is. Without the shop this restaurant would go out of business in a matter of months.
Brought a small service dog, front door says “service dogs welcome” Multiple staff approached us and made us wait until they asked other staff which were already fine with it. The food is really good, £8 for 2 cakes and a milkshake. Kids play place costs £2 for entry even though it was only a small kids cafe play place. A great view, nice outdoor seating which can only be accessed through the cafe. Overall it has amazing views, great food and a relaxed yet busy surroundings, the queues pass very fast. 5*
Had lunch whilst shopping. Staff polite and efficient. I had BLT sandwich, fresh and full of flavour although bacon was slightly overdone and crispy for my liking. Wife had coronation chicken, which was amazing! Overall fantastic food and service.
Not great. I wouldn't explicitly choose to eat here if I didn't need to go to the garden centre itself. The last two times I've been, I had a chicken caesar salad where the chicken tasted of "frozen", and a steak pie that had pretty good filling, but the gravy on the rest of the food was really horrible.
If you're just getting coffee and a cake, it's fine.
