Thank you for an excellent stay. Better service is hard to find. Accommodating, adapting, and arranging everything so that we could have the best possible stay. So, once again, thank you to those who made our trip perfect! Highly recommended
The hotel has changed this year. First, the bar below the Hotel Sport is not an Irish bar open till all hours, so there is less noise generated below the rooms. However if you're at the front of the building you may hear noise from other bars. We were at the back on the top floor so it was ok.||The rooms are fairly basic but a nice size. Rooms were cleaned and new towels put out; as good as any 4 star hotel. Showers seemed ok. Hot water on demand.||All staff were very helpful. ||Breakfast and evening meal were both served in a room at the back of the bar. Breakfast was limited. One bread roll, Fruit(some had seen better days!), one choice of cereal, yogurt, cheese and ham. my family sometimes went over the road to Max's bar to get a croissant to add to their breakfast and for 9 euros they got an English breakfast on Christmas day.||The evening meal was good, but the system of what you could/couldn't have changed in the space of the week. I think we were the first people to have a meal actually in the Hotel Sport so maybe this system will change again. At the beginning of the week we could have anything on their menu, by the end of the week this was limited to various things on the menu. So not sure what they will decide to go with. For me their was too much food (then I'm not used to eating 3 courses.) My son really liked it and said it was the best food he had had on a ski trip. ||The ski resort is good and once all the lifts were open we were near the slopes. The first day the Clotes lift wasn't open (which is near the hotel) So the choice was to walk, or take the bus to sportina. We waited for the bus, You had to pay!!! but it was full. Waited for the next bus but only a few places, so we let the people who had to go to ski school get on and we walked. Always a hassle in ski boots!||Lots of variety on the slopes. I really liked the tree lines routes and we had an adventure going off to France for the day. It can really test your skill of reading a piste map but gives a real purpose to the day. ||There were lots of bars for people who really want to seriously party. We didn't stay out late but early on we really liked the Ghost bar which had a great atmosphere. ||All in all a good ski area, with plenty to do and value for money,
Me, my husband & 10 year old son spent a fantastic week at Hotel Sport top floor 52 & slept like babies every night, room was spacious, spotless, comfortable & lots of TV channels to occupy us once settled after a good, full days skiing. The snow wasn't great but the resort staff worked overtime to ensure the pistes were in good shape even if a little icy at points. The town itself was missing the prettiness that the snow brings but that said, we were able to be part of the Carnival while there - a fantastic event to be part of! I would definitely recommend the day trip to Montgenevre while there €15 pp & well worth it. Breakfast at Paddy's was lovely fresh roles, cooked ham & cheese, cereal, juice/tea/coffee & was more than substantial to set you up for a hard days ski & set in a pretty little snug with a cozy oven burner at the back of Paddys & not in the general pub area. Evening food at Villa Cary was good home cooked & tasty food & always plentiful (pasta dishes were delicious). Marylyn, her family & staff went out of their way every night to make us welcome & always made a fuss of us all. To those who complained about this hotel, then all I can say is if you want the Ritz Carlton then go pay the price, but you would probably still have some complaint. Would definitely return, we had a blast, thanx guys X X X
My 20 year old son and I stayed here for a week 18th-25th January 2016.||||The location is excellent, being only 100m from the foot of the Clotes chairlift and the ground floor is Paddy McGinty's bar which is one of the livelier après bars. ||||The room was very clean with maid service every day and clean towels every other day. The layout was spacious with 2 single beds and room for a third if required. We had a balcony which was also useful for putting drinks outside to keep cool because there was no fridge. A mini-safe was also mounted in one wall and a small TV in one corner but we never turned it on because it was too small to watch really and we did not feel the need.||||The bathroom was a reasonable size with basin, toilet, shower & bidet. The radiators looked quite small and initial concerns about drying wet clothes were unfounded because they were very effective and we never had issues drying socks and wet gloves.||||The only negative point in the room was the shortage of power points since the only accessible ones were by each bed. This was not a major hassle but meant quite a bit of plugging & un-plugging to accommodate phone chargers, boot driers, etc.||||Free WiFi was available but only really useable in Paddy's - if you could get on because most of the time it just ran out of IP addresses. WiFi was also available in The Villa Cary and this was generally more reliable but not particularly fast.||||The is a ski locker area, but this was just a small room and not individual lockers, so we tended to take the skis to the room and let them dry on the balcony. Boots could also be left in the reception area but again we took them to the room in order to dry them out properly.||||The reception area was fairly basic because most staff contact was at The Villa Cary where the evening meal was served.||||Breakfast was server in Paddy McGinty's and was a standard continental affair with an option for full English at around 8 euros but this was way too much food to then go skiing on and would make better sense if shared between two.||||Dinner was a three course meal at The Villa Cary which was always pasta or soup to start, ice cream, cake or fruit to finish and a simple meat and two veg in the middle. While not anything to rave about it was more that adequate and second helpings were always on offer for those with a large appetite and we did not feel the urge to eat anywhere else. The staff were also very pleasant and we usually stayed after dinner for another drink before moving on the livelier venues.||||A few of the others in the hotel grumbled at breakfast about being kept awake until 2am by the music from Paddy's, but although we could certainly hear the music it was not loud enough to keep us awake - but we were on the 3rd (top) floor.||||If you are travelling with children or are a light sleeper then this is one to avoid.||||All-in-all, it was very hard to knock the place especially when viewed in terms of value for money and I would certainly stay there again if we return to Sauze.
