We ended up at High Park Farm after quite the climb up from Elterwater. (We're both not exactly super experienced hikers, so it might be a stroll in the park for sportier people.) However, we found this hidden gem overlooking a gorgeous valley with spectacular scenery and were more than thrilled! The lovely owners (and their dog Nip, who runs the show there, let's be honest! <3) offered us tea and cake or scones for a very reasonable price (we paid no more than 6 pounds each for a very generous amount of tea and a lovely slice of homemade lemon and lime cake.) They also offer a 'loo with a view', which was fantastic as we were really desperate by that time. It's so very quaint and pretty up there and the perfect place for a breather on this breathtaking (in more ways than one) hike! Definitely stop there!
A home-run cafe with homemade cakes. Such a picturesque location with welcoming hosts. We had lemon cake, walnut cake and scones with tea, hot chocolate and juice. Open 10.00-15.00. Not particularly accessible by car so be prepared to park at the top of the road and walk.
Lovely little tea and cake stop in the garden. Nice views. Reasonably priced. Fast service.
Wonderful independent little tea garden. Our host was lovely and the tea and cakes were great and very reasonably priced! My new favourite little hidden place to walk to.
Stunning spot bathed in sunshine this bank holiday week. I along with many others were disappointed to learn that it was closed. The fortunate owners of this slice of a very English paradise informed me that it was now permanently closed. My heart fills with sadness at knowing that another small independent quirky cafe stop is no more, but rest assured in 15 years it will be a themed Starbucks!!
The tea wasn't of very high quality, 2 tea bags in a pot rather than a nice loose leaf tea and the scones came with whipping cream that looked like it came out of a bottle rather than the traditional clotted cream. The tables unfortunately don't overlook the beautiful view either. It was quite expensive for what it was unfortunately.
Wonderful surprise find whilst walking. Lovely tea and cakes and charming friendly hosts. And the chickens are real characters.
A beautiful stop to rest and recharge after climbing up from Elterwater and Skelwith Force. Tea and scones were fantastic and the hosts were wonderfully friendly and helpful about things to see on our walk and other parts of the Lake District.
